American Idol's Tamyra Gray Marries the Color Me Badd Dude - Give Me My Remote : Give Me My Remote

American Idol’s Tamyra Gray Marries the Color Me Badd Dude

September 5, 2006 by

American Idol's Tamyra Gray Marries the Color Me Badd DudeI don’t know why I think this is so bizarre, but American Idol Season One finalist, Tamyra Gray just married Sam Watters, one of the guys from the early 90’s group Color Me Badd.

If you are a certain age (like me) then I’m sure you know all about this former boy band. And don’t even tell me you didn’t sing a long with “I Adore Mi Amore” or the oh so controversial “I Wanna Sex You Up”…if you deny it, you are lying to me and yourself. Of course whenever I hear the name Color Me Badd (yes with two D’s), I immediately conjur up memories of Donna Martin stalking them in their hotel until…she discovers her mother having an illicity affair in the same hotel. Scandal.

People Magazine has all the details about the wedding. I don’t really care all that much about the marriage itself, but I got a big kick out of this pairing.

Wow…I actually worked with her on a Crest Whitestrips campaign years ago, right after she was booted off American Idol. She was very sweet…but you are right, what a bizarre pairing!

Didn’t see this one coming either but weirder things have happened. Don’t really know anything about him, but she is a very nice young lady. Hopefully it will work out for them (wonder if she got a prenup? Horrible thought but in this day and time you never know.), race aside (we can’t always help who we fall in love with, and we’re ‘all’ mixed with something anyway.), in the end. I wish them the best.

Sam Watters (born 23 July 1970, Camp Springs, Maryland) is a songwriter and record producer, previously of the group Color Me Badd, who often works with his songwriting partner Louis Biancaniello. The pair have written and produced hits such as Jessica Simpson’s “I Wanna Love You Forever”, and the #1 single “I Believe” by Fantasia Barrino, “I’m Outta Love,” and “One Day In Your Life” by Anastacia. While a member of early 90’s act Color Me Badd, Watters co-wrote many of their songs, including three #1 hit singles: “I Wanna Sex You Up,” “I Adore Mi Amor,” and “All 4 Love.”

Watters recently wrote and produced “A Public Affair” performed by Jessica Simpson, “When I See U” performed by Fantasia Barrino, which was a Billboard R&B #1 for 8 weeks, “Love Like This” performed by Natasha Bedingfield featuring Sean Kingston, and cowrote “Break Anotha”, Blake Lewis’ debut single. He also wrote and / or produced 4 songs on the upcoming debut release from “X Factor” winner Leona Lewis. Sam Watters is the founding member of production group “The Runaways,” which also includes Ryan Tedder, Rico Love, Wayne Wilkins, and Louis Biancaniello. The Runaways produced Keri Hilson’s upcoming single “Energy.” Sam also wrote the upcoming Pussycat Dolls 2nd single “Whatever Happens” with Ryan Tedder. In September 2006, he married former American Idol contestant Tamyra Gray, his girlfriend of two years, with whom he wrote “I Believe”.

On December 6, 2007, Watters was nominated for a 50th Annual Grammy Award Best Song for his songwriting credits on When I See U.” He has been nominated 6 times (3 with Color Me Badd

I don’t thing he needs her money. People should get a life and let every one else live their own.

I say congrats to both. It’s not weird or bazaar, two people fell in love and got married and that’s all there is to it.

Sam Watters has produced since his CMB days and he used to go out with a black woman even then, I was sure he married her (maybe they broke up) she was initally a fan of his and sent him socks when he went on tour. THis marriage is only a suprise to me because I thought he was already happily married. Hes a good guy who works hard…stop hatin!

luno07 thanks for the info. i just hope everybody else stop hating tamyra, sam or the couple. if i were tamyra and sam’s got all those credits, WHY WOULDN’T I MARRY HIM?!?! and being together for two years before getting married? why shouldn’t that be?

Sam Watters is a cutie and very business saavy. He’s produced a number of music hits. I wish I was as lucky as Tamrya.

    HEY SAM & TAMYRA
    CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Whoever called him a “Broke ass” is obviously smoking dope and just hating out of jealousy. Sam Watters is a Top 40 producer! LOL! WAY More money than the other chodes in CMB. It is EXACTLY the reason he didn’t join CMB reunion because he actually went on to be something MUCH better than a washed up 90’s boy band. hahaha. Losers hate because they are losers.
