HOUSE: Robert Sean Leonard on the End of the Series, The House/Wilson Friendship and More

April 25, 2012 by

While many fans have been speculating about the fate of Gregory House as the series finale of HOUSE fast approaches, few were probably expecting his BFF Wilson to actually be the one with a potentially fatal illness.

I spoke with Robert Sean Leonard (Wilson) last week — before Wilson’s cancer reveal — and he shared some feelings about the show coming to an close, if he was happy about where the House/Wilson relationship ended, and more.

Take a look!

Do you think Wilson will survive the HOUSE finale?

Fantastic interview, Marisa! When we spoke to him before the “Wilson” episode two seasons ago, I was astonished at how personable Mr. Leonard was, and how grateful he was for the creative and financial stability that HOUSE afforded him. For the first time since I stopped writing about the show, I am emotionally invested in the show and how Wilson’s story arc will end.

    Thanks, @Erik 🙂

“Do you think Wilson will survive the HOUSE finale?”

    HE BETTER.

I have wondered how they would explain the return of former cast members (except Lisa) at the end of the series. I think Wilson’s cancer will be the reason for the return. I hope it’s for a crisis rather than his death.

of course he’ll die! why so many returns if he won’t?

RSL always sounds like very cynical on these interviews..he is not a happy camper for someone who has been on a hit show.

all the times they give a caracter more time in a season, the caracter usually dies or leaves the show afterwards… do you guys really think that’s not going to happen this time?

Wilson better survive! I love the relationship that Wilson and House has. It’s so (b)romantic. Even it’s too bad that Lisa doesn’t come to the final episode, I still think that it’s gonna be awesome. And I’m gonna cry. hah.

I’m pretty convinced Wilson will die and the last scene is featuring house shown lonely after Wilson is gone (Didn’t he once say that he’d be alone if Wilson died?).

Maybe they’ll even build in sort of a cliffhanger with house taking an overdose of vicodin for, example. It’s quite suspicious that Leonard pronounces “who watched the show” the way he does.

The only completely sure thing is that there won’t be an happy end – I’d be pretty disappointed if there was.

I think it will be a Thelma and Louise type ending…

Wilson dies, Thirteen returns and wants House to carry out his promise to kill her. Due to grief of losing his friend, House and Thirteen commit suicide together.

Tahina said it. He seems depressed, or like he wishes he could be anywhere but in front of the camera doing the interview. I wish he would look at the interviewer or the camera instead of all around him. He looks very bored/distracted. Why are so many actors weird like that in real life?

  15. Kyle on May 5th, 2012 5:21 pm

@Simone: RSL rarely makes eye contact when being interviewed. He also tends to fidget or rock back and forth a lot too doesn’t he? It looks like he saw something in the street and had to look up to stop himself from losing focus. I think it’s just a bit of anxiety is all. Nothing weird about that really.

um the man is used to NOT looking into a camera, along with being USED TO cameras being in his face…he is an actor! I agree, probably just a bit of anxiety. I don’t understand what the big deal is,for anyone to even care/notice that you must have no life.
