Lost Season 5

Are you ready for LOST? Can you ever really be ready for LOST? Well be as ready as you can be because one of the most compelling shows in the history of TV is back tonight to kick of an all new season. And it’s ok if your expectations are high…they should be. But as someone who has been privileged to see the first three episodes, I can tell you that you will not be let down. The show does not disappoint.

Below are my thoughts on the first two episodes of LOST. For those of you who are strict spoiltarians, you might want to stay away. But the review below is more spoiler-lite – nothing major revealed (that’s not my style) so I think it’s going to be safe for most of you.

We’ll have more on LOST tomorrow, but also stay tuned because the first installment of The TV Talk Podcast‘s “Two Idiots Talk LOST” will be here soon enough.

[Reposted from December 30th]

Yesterday was one of the slowest moving days ever! Why? Because I had to sit in my office all day knowing that as soon as I got home I would be watching the first two episodes of Season 5 of LOST. It was torture! But after watching the first two eps back-to-back, I can tell you it was worth it. So very worth it. You will not be disappointed.

Let’s not go crazy, there is no way I am going to spoil the season premiere of LOST for you. I wouldn’t dream of it (plus it would probably be the last screener I would ever see, so there’s that too). But I can sure share a few tidbits with you. Maybe enough to tide you over until the January 21st premiere.

Although not too revealing, the following are of course spoilers, so please read at your own risk.

Here’s a few things I can tell you. (And if you don’t ever hear from me again it’s probably because I’ve said too much)…

  • In typical LOST fashion, more questions are raised than answers given.  That being said, we do get a lot of answers.  Or at least the beginning to a lot of answers.  I was actually surprised at how much we learned about the secrets of the island during the first two episodes.
  • Familiar faces return. I won’t say who, or in what capacity, but just seeing these faces from long ago made me gasp and then clap (just a glimpse into how much I was dorking out while watching.)
  • Want to know what really happened when Ben moved that big wheel?  You’ll find out in the first episode.
  • Daniel Faraday and his trusty journal play a crucial role in understanding the crazy island antics.
  • The Arrow Station seems to play a key part in what happens on the island, and perhaps it’s why Tom Morrow Jim Prescott Bradford Meade Caleb Nichol Charles Widmore is oh so interested in the land.
  • Missed the first four seasons of LOST? Hurley gives a rather amusing in-story recap that will certainly cause a few chuckles.
  • Aaron finally got cute! Sorry, but I thought he was the strangest looking baby.
  • Sayid is in the first two episodes but he’s rather reticent. There’s a reason for that.
  • Ben Linus is one shady dude. (Oh wait…you already knew that?  Sorry.)
  • In the second episode of Season 5 we will meet some others that aren’t Others, or at least I don’t think they are Others, but maybe they are other Others.  Who can really say.

Get excited…get very excited!!  LOST is almost back!

Very cool. Thanks for the tidbits.

BTW, don’t we all ready know why the O6 lied about what happened? It was to protect those left behind from Widmore, no?
