It may be inevitable, when describing David Caspe’s new NBC comedy, MARRY ME, to compare it to his ABC comedy HAPPY ENDINGS. Not only is Caspe drawing from the same acting pool (his real-life wife, Casey Wilson, plays female lead Annie, while HAPPY ENDINGS guest stars Ken Marino, John Gemberling, and Sarah Wright round out the core ensemble), but he is also playing with a variation on the wedding motif that we saw famously begin (and end each season of) his former show. And for some audiences (cough, me), it’s still so hard to let go of HAPPY ENDINGS, that we want to see it elsewhere.

HAPPY ENDINGS was how Caspe was introduced to television audiences, and MARRY ME is how they will get to know the version of him that has grown up and learned a lot from his first television show. But I think you should get to know him and his work even deeper than that, so I set out to talk with him about both — how they are different, but also how one influences the other — about the importance of the opening titles, and how and why MARRY ME stands on its own, whether you loved, hated, or weren’t even aware of HAPPY ENDINGS…

HAPPY ENDINGS’ creator David Caspe has a new comedy at NBC, MARRY ME, starring former HAPPY ENDINGS star (and his real-life fiancee) Casey Wilson, about a long-time couple who opt to postpone getting engaged in order to do it right.

Check out some photos from the series, the network’s description of the series, and a trailer…

Happy Friday! Hopefully you have the day off, but if not, how about a SNAP JUDGMENT to help pass the time?

What is SNAP JUDGMENT, you ask?

ABC Schedules Original Episodes of HAPPY ENDINGS and DON’T TRUST THE B—- IN APARTMENT 23 on January 6th, Pulls 666 PARK AVE

When ABC announced that they wouldn’t be picking up the back nine for 666 PARK AVENUE, the plan was to have all 13 filmed episodes air. Now, it seems that might not be the case.

An ABC press release has come out saying that new episodes of HAPPY ENDINGS and DON’T TRUST THE B—- IN APARTMENT 23 will air in the Sunday at 10 PM slot on January 6, 2013. There’s no word on whether the comedies will continue there beyond that point (they each have episodes that weren’t set to fit into their current airing order) or 666 PARK AVE will join the Sunday lineup at a later point, but the new drama RED WIDOW is set to take over that spot on March 3, 2013.

I reached out to the ABC publicists to find out if there was any plan to air the remaining episodes of 666 PARK AVE (which have already been shot), and if they have any news to share, I’ll be sure to update you.

UPDATE 2:09 PM PT: Sources confirm the four remaining episodes of 666 PARK AVENUE have been pulled from their Sunday slot will be scheduled for a TBD summer run.

In the meantime, are you at least happy to get new comedy episodes?

My friend/vodcast partner-in-crime Danielle Turchiano (from Made Possible By Pop Culture) and I often get geeky during our “We Have Thoughts” vodcast, but this may take the cake.

Recently, Danielle and I sat down to discuss some of our favorite moments from the television season so far, and, unsurprisingly, we had some opinions.

Take a look at our choices…
