RAY DONOVAN: Vinessa Shaw on Kate’s ‘Addiction to Adrenaline,’ Her Twisted Relationship with Ray, and More

RAY DONOVAN’s title character has always has his share of foes, but Kate McPherson, a Boston Globe reporter who is writing a book on Sully (and his death), has proven to be an interesting challenge for him: the duo’s chemistry led to them winding up in bed together (more than once), but despite that, Kate has been unwilling to give up her quest to find out what truly happened.

And while actress Vinessa Shaw (Kate) acknowledged that the duo are “soul mates in a way, with how they approach their lives,” the top priority remains for her character to find out the real story…no matter what the cost may be.

Showtime Moves MASTERS OF SEX to Summer, Sets Premiere Date for That and RAY DONOVAN

MASTERS OF SEX will air its second season this summer, Showtime announced.

The Michael Sheen-led series aired its first season in the fall (paired with HOMELAND), but for its sophomore year will be paired with fellow second-year show RAY DONOVAN. Both shows will kick off their seasons on July 13th, with RAY DONOVAN airing at 9 PM and MASTERS OF SEX airing at 10 PM.

RAY DONOVAN: Ann-Margret to Guest Star

RAY DONOVAN is bulking up its season 2 guest roster: Ann-Margret will recur on the series, Showtime announced.

According to the network, Ann-Margret will play the “ever-beautiful June Wilson, a major star back in her day who has a past with Ray’s boss Ezra Goldman (Elliott Gould).”

RAY DONOVAN season 2 debuts this summer on Showtime.

Showtime Renews RAY DONOVAN For Season 2

After RAY DONOVAN’s debut as the highest rated original series premiere for Showtime — and remaining strong in the following two weeks — the network has given the show the order for a second second.

“RAY DONOVAN is on track to be our biggest season one show ever,” said David Nevins, President of Entertainment, Showtime Networks Inc.  in a press release. “[RAY DONOVAN creator] Ann Biderman and the extraordinarily talented creative team, coupled with the brilliant ensemble cast led by Liev Schreiber, have produced one of the hottest new dramas of the year.  We are proud and excited to pick up another season.”

The second season of RAY DONOVAN will debut sometime in 2014.

What Surprised Liev Schreiber About His New Showtime Series, RAY DONOVAN?

For Liev Schreiber — who plays the titular RAY DONOVAN in the new Showtime series debuting this Sunday after DEXTER — his experience with television work has been fairly limited. (Apart from a handful of CSI episodes, Schreiber has mainly stuck to voice-over work for his television appearances.)

While there is absolutely no doubt some of the best acting opportunities are on television these days, committing to a show based on a pilot is often a huge leap of faith.
