SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE celebrated a decade of being on the air with a special hour on Tuesday. (The actual anniversary fell on July 20th — the day of the show’s regularly scheduled episode.) In addition to clip packages of what the series has done over its first ten years, many of the show’s former contestants came back to perform some of the most memorable routines, so far.

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE is bringing back a few familiar faces for its 12th season — Stephen “tWitch” Boss and Travis Wall will serve as mentors, Fox announced.
The mentorships will come into play starting with the Las Vegas callbacks round. The stage dancers (mentored by Travis) will consist of styles such as contemporary, ballet, jazz, or tap. The street dancers (mentored by tWitch) will consist of styles such as hip-hop, animation, or breaking.

Comments Off on SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE Season 12: Paula Abdul and Jason Derulo Join the Judging Panel
SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE has officially added Paula Abdul and Jason Derulo to the season 12 judging panel, Fox announced. Longtime SYTYCD judge Mary Murphy announced earlier this month that the show had not picked up her option to return. Additionally, the show will have a new twist in the format: stage dancers vs. street dancers.
“With the new and exciting format comes a new and exciting panel of judges,” said executive producer and judge Nigel Lythgoe in a statement. “I’m delighted that Paula Abdul and Jason Derulo will be joining me at the judges’ table this season on SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE. Paula is an incredible artist and she brings the perfect combination of expertise and heart to the panel. Jason’s insight, humor and creativity will add a new perspective to the panel that we haven’t had before.”

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE Renewed for Season 12 — With a Twist

Comments Off on SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE Renewed for Season 12 — With a Twist
SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE will return for a 12th season, but the show will be shaken up a bit.
Per Fox, “throughout the auditions, the dancers who advance will be placed into two teams – the STAGE dancers, featuring those trained in styles such as contemporary, ballet, jazz or tap; and the STREET dancers, hopefuls skilled in hip-hop, animation or breaking. As the auditions continue, the judges, along with each team’s All-Star Mentor, will eliminate dancers until only the Top 20 – 10 Street Dancers and 10 Stage Dancers – remain. When the competition goes “live,” the Top 20 will be challenged weekly to perform a variety of styles, working with world-renowned choreographers. One dancer from each genre will be eliminated each week leading up to the Season Finale. Who will win…a dancer from the stage or the street? Find out when SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE returns in summer 2015.”

Comments Off on SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE: Watch One of the Show’s Most Adorable Auditions!
SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE has had its share of emotional/gripping/hysterical/”HOW DID THEY DO THAT?” auditions, but very rarely does the word “adorable” come to mind. Enter J-4, a precocious nine-year-old (AKA way too young to officially compete) who arguably stole the show this week with his audition. (And he had a little help from SYTYCD winner Fik-Shun and former contestant Cyrus.)
