Ahead of its August 6 premiere, CBS All Access revealed the opening scene from STAR TREK: LOWER DECKS during the show’s Comic-Con panel.
The animated series “focuses on the support crew serving on one of Starfleet’s least important ships, the U.S.S. Cerritos, in 2380. Ensigns Mariner, Boimler, Rutherford and Tendi have to keep up with their duties and their social lives, often while the ship is being rocked by a multitude of sci-fi anomalies.” The voice cast includes Tawny Newsome, Jack Quaid, Noël Wells, Eugene Cordero, Dawnn Lewis, Jerry O’Connell, Fred Tatasciore, and Gillian Vigman.

The STAR TREK universe is expanding—again!—at CBS All Access. The streaming platform has ordered STAR TREK: LOWER DECKS, a half-hour animated comedy series, which will “focus on the support crew serving on one of Starfleet’s least important ships.” The series, which has a two-year order so far, was created by Mike McMahan.
