The end is almost here for our (fictional) friends at Dunder-Mifflin: NBC has released photos from the series finale of THE OFFICE.

Since THE OFFICE’s first season, the events of the series had been portrayed as being shot as part of a documentary. And while the show’s final season has peeled back the curtain a little bit on that (most notably with introducing some of the crew in the midst of a Jim-Pam fight), tonight’s brand new episode takes things a step further: promos for the documentary start airing!

Fans of THE OFFICE were more than a little alarmed when in the latest episode, “Customer Loyalty,” Jim and Pam had an over-the-phone fight that was so bad, it caused one of the crew members on the “documentary” that has been “capturing” the past nine seasons of the series to break the fourth wall to try and comfort a very upset Pam.
“We had been very, I think, respectful of their marriage and their relationship,” THE OFFICE showrunner Greg Daniels told reporters on set during last week’s TCA session. “And we didn’t want to put pressures on them for a very long time, and then part of the appeal of this last season, was to try and do that. And it was actually — the specifics of it was John [Krasinski (Jim)]’s idea that he had — in terms of going to Philadelphia and the new company, which I guess had happened to [his] brother [in real life]…”

As we gear up for the final batch of episodes of THE OFFICE, big changes are coming…and that all kicks off tonight.
“[Tonight’s episode] is really what I would say is the beginning of the end where we start to break down what’s going on with this documentary and see behind the scenes and, you know, who is involved,” THE OFFICE showrunner Greg Daniels told reporters on the set last week. “And we’re going to play that more and more…leading towards the end in a way where we couldn’t have done a lot of these ideas [that we had] in season 4, because…it would just be too weird to continue after.”
Yep, by knowing the show is coming to an end — and having the proper time to say goodbye — it has afforded the writers the opportunity to play with storylines they’ve been cooking up for years.

Report: NBC Decides Against Moving Forward with THE OFFICE Spinoff

It seems we’ll be saying goodbye to all our friends at Dunder-Mifflin when the series concludes at the end of this season: THE OFFICE star Rainn Wilson (Dwight) has tweeted that the spinoff that was being developed around his character is dead. (NBC hasn’t responded to a request for comment at this time.)
“Farm Update: NBC has passed on moving forward with The Farm TV show,” Wilson tweeted. “Had a blast making the pilot – onwards & upwards!”
Selfishly, I hope this ends up benefiting THE OFFICE: Dwight and Angela have been through so much, and even if they don’t end up together, I’d rather it be because the writers choose it that way, versus having a spinoff dictate that.

THE OFFICE: New Boss

(The following contains spoilers for tonight’s episode of THE OFFICE. Stop reading if you haven’t yet watched.)
If you’re skin is crawling with awkwardness then you might have just finished watching tonight’s episode of THE OFFICE. Talk about cringeworthy. I watched most of the episode with my hands over my eyes. And I loved every minute of it!
Gene Stupnitsky and Lee Eisenberg have been with the show from the beginning and you could really feel that history tonight as they nailed the tone perfectly. Quotable lines, uncomfortable moments, and a (somewhat) shocking twist. Way to keep it classy guys…I hope you’re wearing your tuxes.
Idris Elba is a fantastic addition to the cast as the new corporate VP, Charles Minor. In the past the VP position has been reserved for the incapable and unprofessional such as Jan Levinson and Ryan “Fire Guy” Howard. Seems corporate stepped up their game because Charles seems to be the real deal. But Michael, and let’s face it Jim, managed to give their new boss a reason to keep a watchful eye on the branch. And it’s not the kind of eye you want on you when the company is looking to create efficiences across the board – especially when you are the Scranton Branch.
You can always trust Michael Scott to make an ass out of himself. He was childish, petty, inappropriate and off the charts unprofessional. But Jim. Whoa, talk about a bad day. We’ve seen Jim choke before but every time he opened him mouth it just got worse. The new boss didn’t take too kindly to Jim’s lack of professionalism and it seemed that’s all Jim was offering up today. I’m glad we’ve seen Jim exposed like this in the past because it made his fouls that much more believable. But I also don’t think he did anything to help himself. For instance, why not ditch the jacket and bow tie and leave the tux look behind? Certainly not the first impression you want to make when your career is possibly on the line.Think about your mortgage and upcoming (hopefully) nuptuials, James. Although, let’s be honest here, he did look quite handsome (and classy) in the tux so at least there’s that. I mean it did take him 40 minutes to get ready.
THE OFFICE: Lecture Circuit (Part I)

Attention Dwight Schurte and Jim Halpert – my birthday is March 21st. That gives you over a full month to plan my party. My chocolate ice cream cake better be covered in 24 candles (one for each year of my life) and my orange and purple balloons best be fully inflated. Got it? Good.
Last night’s episode of THE OFFICE had a great mix of cringeworthy moments and old school office antics, which made for a very fun episode – one of the stronger ones this season in my opinion. For the most part the humor in last night’s episode came from the Dunder Mifflinites playing off each other. Whether it was Stanley, Andy and Creed coming together to land Andy his new m’lady; Jim and Dwight trying to make right by Kelly; or Pam and Michael teaming up on their road trip, it all, for the most part, just worked.
I’m actually happy that we’re going to see more of these storylines play out in next week’s episode. I’m not holding my breath for the appearance of Holly in Nashua, but you never know.

Welcome back Dunder Mifflinites. It was a beautiful thing to hear THE OFFICE theme song last night, wasn’t it? It’s been so long. I missed my fictional office friends (and boyfriend). I laughed a lot last night and I hope you did too. I thought last night’s episode, while not perfect, was clever and smart. And Jim Halpert holding all those weapons? Weirdly sexy. Hey, it’s been a while since I’ve seen him…give a girl a break.
With the amount of TV on last night, I was only able to watch the episode once. And as we all know, watching an episode of THE OFFICE just once is like only half watching it. But I trust if I share my initial thoughts and favorite moments that you’ll all jump in and fill in the rest.
So just what went down (that’s what…too easy)?
