Tonight’s TV Spotlight…Tuesday, January 6, 2009

January 6, 2009 by

So much TV for a Tuesday night. You’re really spoiling me. Just what will I watch?

Tonight’s big TV news is the ABC premiere of SCRUBS. A new network but the same laughs. Are you SCRUBS fans excited for your show to be back?

Of course personally I’m geeked out for the return of PRIVILEGED. I’m a little bummed that they moved the show back to Tuesday nights.  I liked the one two punch of GOSSIP GIRL and PRIVILEGED.  I thought all the rich girl antics were a nice combo.

Want to see what else is on? And tell me…what will YOU be watching?

Privileged | 9pm on The CW
“All About What Lies Beneath”
Megan finally confronts her mother; Sage and Rose throw a charity dinner; Marco’s boyfriend encourages him to quit his job and open a cafe; Charlie decides he wants to go back to school. [GMMR: There’s some juicy stuff happening tonight.  How do I know?  I was on the set of PRIVILEGED when they were filming this episode! So fun!]

Scrubs | 9pm on ABC | Season Premiere (Network Premiere)
“My Jerks”
Scrubs premiere tonight on ABC. Dr. Kelso’s replacement, Dr. Maddox (Courteney Cox), shakes things up at Sacred Heart; J.D. struggles to manage a new group of interns.

“My Last Words” (9:30pm)
J.D. and Turk set aside a decade-long tradition to comfort a dying patient; Dr. Maddox (Courteney Cox) starts to show her true colors. [GMMR: I’ve seen the first two episodes of this season of SCRUBS and it’s funny stuff. I’ve never really had a strong connection to the show but I can always appreciate funny when I see it. You won’t be disappointed.]

The Mentalist | 9pm on CBS
“Red John’s Friends”
Patrick leaves the CBI to work on proving a convicted murderer’s innocence after the prisoner promises to share information about Red John upon his release. [GMMR: Ducky tells me he really digs this show.  File this one under ‘Ugh I wish I was watching’ – that file is too big.]

Nip/Tuck | 10m on FX | Season Premiere
“Ronnie Chase”
Sean’s physical and emotional well-being are impacted after surviving the attack from Colleen (Sharon Gless); Christian gets troubling news. [GMMR: Let me hear from you Nip/Tuck fans.  Are you excited for the return of your show? ]

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit | 10pm on NBC
“Stranger”
Benson and Stabler begin to question the story of a missing teenager (Ellen Woglom) who returns home after four years, claiming to have been kept as a sex slave in a cement cell. [GMMR: I watched a few SVU epsiode around the holidays, and while the show is well acted the subject matter is so heavy that I had to stop watching.]

Primetime: What Would You Do? | 10pm on ABC
Hidden cameras capture people’s reactions to a man slipping a suspicious powder into his date’s drink, loud, annoying American tourists in Paris and blatant racist discrimination. [GMMR: This show is like a fun play at home game.  I mean can you imagine if you saw someone put a powder in someone’s drink and you didn’t say anything? Come on now. ]

Also playing…

  • 90210 | 8pm on The CW: Annie overhears a phone call that raises suspicions; Adrianna asks Brenda to come to a support day at her rehab center; Christina and Dixon’s friendship continues to grow.
  • The Biggest Loser | 8pm on NBC: One contestant has a health scare; Alison surprises the contestants with a big twist at the weigh-in.
  • Homeland Security USA | 8pm on ABC: A voluptuous young woman arrives in the U.S. from Switzerland with no paperwork but carrying a suitcase full of titillating surprises; smugglers try to get past DHS canines by packing narcotics into baby diapers.
  • NCIS | 8pm on CBS: McGee is held captive in a women’s prison after a guard’s murder leads to a takeover.
  • Without a Trace | 10pm on CBS: The team searches for a 13-year-old who vanished after her mother picked her up from school; Samantha and Jack’s relationship hits a speed bump.

GMMR’s Useless Tidbit of the Day…

“Ra was the sun God of ancient Egypt.”

I’m definitely going to be watching Priviliged but also Leverage. I know you don’t ever talk about it but I”ve really enjoyed it.

Scrubs!! I’m excited to see it back, and can’t believe how much I’ve missed it. I’ve seen bits and pieces of Scrubs goodies, along with a Q & A for this season, so I’m definitely pumped to watch it tonight.

GMMR, you must watch The Mentalist. It’s not too late to get caught up. Not only is the show really good and entertaining but there is also the complete hotness of Simon Baker. Love, love, love that Privileged is back too! Also, Leverage is really good and becoming a favorite of mine really quickly. It is very “Ocean 11”-ish and last weeks episode was the best so far. Why are cramming all the good shows on Mondays and Tuesdays. With Pushing Daisies and DSM going away, there’s nothing left on Wednesdays. I wish they would spread things out more. My DVR is going to explode.

Happy that Privileged is back. I hope Sage tortures the new chef some more. Also am considering watching Leverage, since everyone has such good things to say about it.

Courtney Cox will probably give Scrubs a big PR boost, and she’s pretty funny as well
