Let’s talk about Sunday night’s TV!

AMERICAN IDOL: To some degree, it felt like the contestants were damned with virtually any choice they made. If they picked something obscure—like from THE GOOFY MOVIE—that was a point against them. But if they had picked a song everyone knew, it would have been really difficult for it to feel like it wasn’t karaoke. I would argue the wrong people went home, but I also get why the judges didn’t use their sole save of season

GAME OF THRONES: Out of everyone who got big moments this episode, nothing broke my heart more than Brienne being respected by virtually everyone at Winterfell. Of course, with every additional big moment, I kept thinking, oh, great, how bad is her death going to be?

Truly, how bad is next week going to be? I would guess we’ll lose at least five sizable characters. There were too many moments of kindness and foreshadowing, too much planning ahead for these people to make it through, even if they weren’t battling a foe a vicious as the White Walkers.

Not to be a buzzkill, but the Arya/Gendry scene felt so uncomfortable. Yikes.

KILLING EVE: Villanelle and Konstantin’s reunion was fantastic. The rest of the episode felt frustrating. Eve and her husband have their own natural tension; we don’t need Villanelle stirring things up.

And, frankly, the cat and mouse chase just makes Eve look bad at her job. Yes, Villanelle is smart and cunning, but she can’t ever really lose or the game is over. And Eve being thisclose to the person she’s chasing multiple times in the episode feels like overkill.

SUPERGIRL: Sure, deputizing the Children of Liberty sounds like a…swell idea. I do love that Kara was able to save the day, to a degree as herself versus Supergirl. Let’s see what info Steve can actually provide to her.
