As ARROW heads into its eighth and final season, a number of characters will get revamped costumes, including Katie Cassidy’s Laurel Lance.

“I was like, ‘This is dope!'” Cassidy told reporters, in the video below, of her reaction to her new costume. (And, as a bonus, she’s allowed to keep her hair short with it.)

Off-screen, Cassidy is reaching a major milestone in season 8: directing her first episode of television.

“I spent this last hiatus doing the WB Directors‘ program, which was so educational and so good,” she gushed. “It was such an eye-opening process.”

“It’s keeping the energy up on set, because it’s 13, 14 hour days,” she continued. “These crew members, they’re lugging stuff around. Actors get tired…during the panel, I said [ARROW star Stephen Amell] has been a leader, and that’s also the role of director: you have to be the one that gets people excited. I think the crew is excited for me, because they know how excited I am.”
