GAME ON! and AGENTS OF SHIELD

“Celebrity Guests: Becky Lynch and Joel McHale” — WWE Champion Becky Lynch joins Team Gronk, and comedian and actor Joel McHale joins Team Venus, as they compete against each other in a game of human darts, attempt to break a world record for popping balloons and take on a sumo wrestler, on GAME ON! Wednesday, July 1 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Keegan-Michael Key hosts. Pictured: Joel McHale Photo: Monty Brinton/CBS ©2019 CBS Broadcasting, Inc. All Rights Reserved.

Let’s talk about Wednesday night’s TV!

GAME ON!: Uh, those world records are absolutely bonkers. How does a person sit on over 100 balloons in a minute?? HOW? Even 60 in a minute feels impossible.

But, wow, this really does feel like the year-ish of Joel McHale. Between this, THE MASKED SINGER, TWILIGHT ZONE, and the eventual upcoming season of CARD SHARKS, he’s really hustling. (His burn towards Gronk about cheating was the highlight of the night, too.)

AGENTS OF SHIELD: Good lord, Mack having to kill his “parents” was absolutely emotionally brutal. But, uh, that single minute of space from the group sure did backfire when the Zephyr left without him and Zeke. (But, hey, 1982 could be fun?)

Man, the May and Coulson scene was so overdue, but also absolutely heartbreaking because there really is no version of a happy ending for them, is there? She’s resigned to him coming back and no longer mourning him, but she’s not wrong—it will really never be able to be the same.

So, uh, how worried should we be about Daisy right now? And Jemma, who at least seems quasi-better now? And as someone who went into this season relatively spoiler-free, I’m surprised Fitz hasn’t popped up yet. Obviously it’s part of a bigger storyline with the show, but it’s also the final season and I do wish we got a bit more on him in this final stretch.

On a lighter note, Sybil and Coulson facing off was fun. I’ll always take Clark Gregg and Tamara Taylor in a scene together, please and thank you, TV Gods.
