LEVERAGE: REDEMPTION: Beth Riesgraf and Christian Kane on Reprising Parker and Eliot in the New IMDb TV Series

When LEVERAGE signed off in 2012, a trio of the characters—Parker (Beth Riesgraf), Eliot (Christian Kane), and Hardison (Aldis Hodge)—ending storyline positioned them to continue on with the missions, leading up the new Leverage: International.

With the stories continuing off-screen between the series’ end and when LEVERAGE: REDEMPTION (the new IMDb TV revival) kicks off, Kane and Riesgraf acknowledge that their trust in the creative team helped alleviate any big questions about where their characters had been in the time viewers didn’t get to see.

“[Executive producers] John Rogers, Chris Downey, and Dean Devlin, they all created the show and they’ve been a huge part of the character development and the writing,” Kane explains in the video below. “My question was, ‘What do I hit, where do I stand?’ Because they are so brilliant at what they do that…I had a question on where we were, and then they told us where we were, but I never really questioned what was going on, because they’ve got such a really good outlook on this thing. And so however they wanted to start it when they picked it back up, I was willing to go there…If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it, with Elliot…he’s gonna be the lesser of the changees [amongst the team].”

For Riesgraf, “it was really important for me to know who would be in charge of Parker’s voice, because so much of it is, if you normalize Parker and take away the quirks, or the way that she operates, she’s no longer Parker.”

In the time between seasons, ” obviously we wanted to show that she’d had growth,” she says. “But if you make her adhere to social norms, you lose her. So it was really important for me to know what’s the plan here and how are we going to keep that alive. And, obviously, the physicality—she’s an adrenaline junkie, all of that had to still exist, for her to feel right to me.”
