MONARCH: Beth Ditto Joins Fox Musical Drama
September 9, 2021 by Marisa Roffman
Musician Beth Ditto has joined the cast of MONARCH, a new Fox musical drama. She joins the previously announced Susan Sarandon, Anna Friel, and Trace Adkins.
The series is “a Texas-sized, multi-generational musical drama about America’s first family of country music.” Ditto will play GiGi Taylor-Roman, “the younger daughter of country music legends Dottie Cantrell Roman (Sarandon) and Albie Roman (Adkins). Although very close to her sister and heir to the crown Nicolette “Nicky” Roman (Friel), in a family of superstars, Gigi has always felt like a bit of an outcast, in spite of her incredible singing voice.”
The series was created by Melissa London Hilfers, with Michael Rauch set to showrun.
The series will debut with a special two-night event beginning Sunday, January 30, immediately following the NFC CHAMPIONSHIP, and continuing on Tuesday, February 1.
