When LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT returns from its Olympics-related hiatus, a few familiar faces will be popping up: Betty Buckley and Ari’el Stachel will guest star on the Thursday, February 24 hour, Give Me My Remote has learned.

Buckley will reprise her role of Trial Division Chief Lorraine Maxwell, which she debuted in 2021’s “Nightmares in Drill City.” (She had previously appeared in SVU from 2006-2008 as a different character.)

SVU star Peter Scanavino (who plays Carisi) previously praised the scenes he got to play with Buckley, who is his on-screen boss. “I liked all the trial stuff in ‘Nightmares in Drill City’ where you got to see the eighth floor [and] more of the politics that Carisi is dealing with, with Betty Buckley and Teagle [F. Bougere, who plays Bureau Chief Phillip Baptiste] as my superiors,” he said at the time. “I liked that world and I’d like to explore that so you can see the legwork the Carisi has to do on his part [to get justice]…I thought all those scenes were just great and illustrative, and showed you a lot about what Carisi’s day-to-day is like.”

Stachel’s Sergeant Hasim Khaldun will make his fifth appearance on the series (after most recently popping up in “Silent Night, Hateful Night”), stepping in to help at SVU when the squad finds themselves short-staffed.

Additionally, INSECURE’s Lisa Joyce will guest star in the same hour as the birth mother of a woman who is seeking answers about her biological parents. Joyce previously appeared on SVU in 2007 and 2011 (as different characters), and had two guest spots on the mothership (in 2008 and 2009).

And with the Wheatley arc in its final episodes, Nick Creegan will be reprising his role as Richie on ORGANIZED CRIME. But with Richie last seen in prison—going back on his plan to testify against his father, Richard (Dylan McDermott), on the SVU hour of the December crossover—details about how he re-enters the OC world are being kept under lock and key.
