Lauren Ash has joined the upcoming ABC comedy NOT DEAD YET.

The series, which stars Gina Rodriguez, “follows Nell Serrano (Rodriguez), a broke and newly single self-described disaster, working to restart the life and career she left behind 10 years ago. When she lands the only job she can find – writing obituaries – Nell starts getting life advice from an unlikely source.” The comedy is adapted from the book “Confessions of a 40-something F**k Up” by Alexandra Potter, with THIS IS US and THE REAL O’NEALS vets David Windsor and Casey Johnson creating the television take.

Ash will play Lexi, who is the “daughter of a wealthy newspaper owner and recently appointed editor. Lexi was raised in a rarefied world of boarding schools and private planes and is comedically out of touch with how normal people live. A former almost-Olympian horse jumper, Lexi exudes extreme confidence. But the truth is she’s in way over her head and if the newspaper fails, she’ll never win her father’s approval – something she desperately wants.”

The series also stars Hannah Simone as Sam, Joshua Banday as Dennis, Angela Gibbs as Cricket, and Rick Glassman as Edward.

Ash’s previous TV credits include SUPERSTORE, CHICAGO PARTY AUNT, SHE-RA AND THE PRINCESS OF POWER, and SUPER FUN NIGHT.

NOT DEAD YET is set to debut midseason.

Deadline was first to report Ash’s casting.
