Let’s talk about Tuesday night’s TV!

QUANTUM LEAP: First of all, the storyline about the non-binary sibling coming out to their sisters was great. It’s important to see representation and a show like QUANTUM LEAP is uniquely equipped to showcase that queer stories have existed throughout all of time.

Unfortunately, the episode as a whole was more messy for me. I’m not entirely sure why it didn’t click, but I think a big part of it was that the hour was simply trying to do too much. I know things are sometimes difficult to do in a shorter season, but in addition to the sibling dynamic, there’s a treasure hunt, Addison going from planning to elope with Tom to asking for space, and then the entire Ian/Rachel/Gideon subplot. Outside of arguably the treasure hunt, nothing felt like it got its actual needed time in the hour.

The Addison and Tom of it may be the most frustrating, honestly, specifically because the writers had done such a good job of incorporating that relationship into the series up to this point. Yeah, I’m guessing most viewers knew that it wasn’t going to be her happily ever after—but this seemed to be a loving relationship, they cared about each other. They literally got engaged in the previous episode. And, yes, the engagement came after she spent time with Ben and Hannah, but it also didn’t feel like it was about that. So for them to go from an immediate elopement (?!) to them basically breaking up because of a leap that hit her hard…it was a little difficult for me. I wish we had seen this be the start of the seed and her struggle with it for a few episodes before realizing this was the right move to make. Alas.

I am curious how Ben attempting to send that letter to Hannah will work out for him, though…

THE FLOOR: Oh, I was losing it at the presidential candidates category…so many obvious skips and misses. IT HURT.

The Joey versus Ford battle was one of the most intense ones of the show so far and will be hard to beat. What a great duel between the two. Joey is certainly going to be a player to keep our eyes on.
