“No Future, No Consequences” – Station 42 and Three Rock battle a dangerous campaign fire where our heroes struggle with difficult decisions, on FIRE COUNTRY, Friday, May 10 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on-demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on-demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs)*. FIRE COUNTRY’s Bode (Max Thieriot) and Gabriela (Stephanie Arcila) have had a complex relationship throughout the show’s first two seasons, but the duo seem to be at a bit of a standstill now: He professed his love for her—but also let her go. (Oh, and there’s the teeny tiny fact that she’s currently engaged to someone else.)

When the show returns for its final episodes of season 2 on Friday, April 26, “we’re not letting that relationship just fizzle out and disappear,” Thieriot tells Give Me My Remote with a smile. (The series was already picked up for a third season.) “That will play throughout the rest of the season. They always have this hard sort of push and pull, I think. He obviously loves her and clearly she has some sort of feelings back. But I think the two of them are like oil and water, right? It’s like they kind of just don’t blend perfectly and they’re always combating each other. And the timing is never right. And there’s always something sort of standing in the way between them.”

“We get to experience that push and pull throughout the rest of the season,” he continues. “But certainly we feel Bode is also constantly trying to do the right thing for her and looking out for her best interests, which sort of seems to always be his MO, in general—put everybody else first.”

With a lot of changes in his life—including Cara’s (Sabina Gadecki) tragic death and then confirmation that Gen (Alix West Lefler) is not his daughter—Bode is trying to slow down a bit.

“That’s a big thing: Before he acted and he [was] impulsive and [dove] right in,” Thieriot says of Bode and Gabi’s history. “And now we see him really trying to step back and look at himself and look at the decisions he’s making. [He’s] really try[ing], not only to do the best thing for her, but do the best thing for himself. So it’s a really fun sort of ending for the two of them this season.”
