DEXTER: ORIGINAL SIN Sets its Miami Metro Squad

DEXTER: ORIGINAL SIN, a new 10-episode DEXTER prequel, has added to its cast..including bringing a trio of familiar characters into the mix.

James Martinez will play Angel Batista, an up-and-coming homicide detective who leads with his heart, Christina Milian will play Maria LaGuerta, Miami Metro’s first female homicide detective, and Alex Shimizu will play Vince Masuka, a forensic analyst who eagerly shares his expertise while relishing the chance to boss around his new intern, Dexter Morgan. The characters were played by David Zayas, Lauren Vélez, and C. S. Lee, respectively, in the original series.

Reno Wilson has also joined the series playing Bobby Watt, Harry’s longtime partner and confidant.

They join the previously-announced Christian Slater as Harry Morgan, Patrick Gibson as Dexter Morgan, and Molly Brown as Debra Morgan.

In the new series, “Set in 1991 Miami, DEXTER: ORIGINAL SIN follows Dexter (Gibson) as he transitions from student to avenging serial killer. When his bloodthirsty urges can’t be ignored any longer, Dexter must learn to channel his inner darkness. With the guidance of his father, Harry (Slater), he adopts a Code designed to help him find and kill people who deserve to be eliminated from society without getting on law enforcement’s radar. This is a particular challenge for young Dexter as he begins a forensics internship at the Miami Metro Police Department.”

Production starts on the series today in Miami, with Clyde Phillips returning as showrunner. Executive producers also include Scott Reynolds, Michael C. Hall, Mary Leah Sutton, Tony Hernandez, and Lilly Burns. Michael Lehmann serves as directing executive producer.
