TV Boyfriend Watch ‘06: John Krasinski & Rashida Jones

You may recall that I had a mini-meltdown last Friday when I heard that Rashida Jones has been added to the cast of The Office. After a long and contemplative weekend I came to the conclusion that I trust in the writers and producers of The Office, and whatever they want to do is fine by me. But you know I was secretly crushed at the thought of watching my #1 TV boyfriend, John Krasinski, canoodle with his rumored girlfriend every Thursday night. Well, since you all seem to be as intrigued as I was by all of this, I thought I would share this tidbit from E!’s Kristin Veitch regarding the on-screen/off-screen love.
Did you know Rashida and John used to date in real life? I doggy doo you not. Sources tell me he fought hard to get his ex-girlfriend the role. So…is John just that nice? Or does a certain someone still have feelings? I’ll never tell! (’Cause, um, I don’t know.)
What’s really interesting is that I was in this chat with Kristin LIVE and the above quote was NOT part of the chat. I know because (a) I specifically look for Office goodies to share with y’all, and (b) I asked Kristin during the chat if the rumors about John & Rashida were true and she didn’t answer.
This leads me to believe that she took some time to get this scoop before posting it today. Ugh, he fought hard to be around this gorgeous woman all day? Damn.
Say it with me…I trust the writers - I trust the writers - I trust the writers. And I’ve said it before and I will say it again. Rashida Jones is an accomplished actress on her own. She’s on the show because TPTB thought she deserved the part. I’m sure John didn’t “get” Rashida the role if she didn’t earn it. Ok enough gossiping about JK and RJ…yuck, I feel dirty.

That’s what my sister and I have been telling ourselves all weekend long. I won’t lie–these developments make us scared for “The Office.” We don’t like change, and this sounds like a whole lot of change. And it’s change that involves John Krasinski being cozy with someone other than me or Pam. But hey, the writers have gotten us this far…
GMMR, I’m sorry but the whole “I trust the writers” mantra people have been chanting just isn’t flying for me. No matter how good writers may be, the actors are the ones who have to execute it. I just hope Rashida can pull it off.

Let’s not forget that Rashida Jones is an actress first. She has had her own success without any help from John.
Not that to be unsympathetic with you ladies, but the guys had to get used to the idea that Jenna was married a long time ago. and to a talented, funny, seemingly cool guy, no less. How revolting is that?
And as a writer, I say trust the writers. Actors are interchangeable. (Not that I really believe that.)
wow Rashida just dates everyone in hollywood huh! LOL Yeah I’m over her playing John’s…uh I mean, Jim’s new love interest. Hehe. Although, I’m still kinda made that she dated Seth Meyers. Ugh. Okay, I’m over that too.
GMMR - was that in Kristin’s chat transcripts? If so, I didn’t see it there anymore or am I missing it? In any case, I do have trust in the writers, but I’m definitely anxious to see if next season can live up to the great 2nd season they had. I have a small fear that maybe expectations have risen too high, but they’re a talented group so I hope they can meet the challenge.
(On another note - why is Rashida Jones connected to not just one but two of my “future husbands”?

I’m just curious–when did they break up? If it was like two years ago+, I don’t worry. But if it’s like a year, and seeing how chummy they’ve been with each other these past 5 months, I think there’s a good chance sparks will be rekindled.
As far as her on the show, I don’t worry. She was funny on the Chapelle Show, has a natural acting style that will fit well w. the show, and I think Pam needs to be jealous for awhile.
Poor GMMR! I guess the rumors were true- so weird though with the whole Seth Myers thing. I guess some best buds share everything- even ex-girlfriends!! Be strong!
Actually, I heard Rashida Jones and Seth Meyers are together again.
