Title: Exodus
Original Airdate: 10/13/2006

Previously, Saul Tigh was released from prison because his wife sold out the Resistance leaders in exchange. Laura Roslin arranged to swap Hera- Helo and Sharon’s half ‘n’ half baby- out with a still-born pure human baby. Hera was hidden among the fleet and Sharon was left none the wiser and pretty messed up for a while. Galactica made contact with the survivors on New Caprica. Adama’s rescue plan includes sending Cylon Sharon down on the planet. The New Caprica Police round up anyone ever suspected in the insurgency based on a death  list signed by President Gaius Baltar.

New Caprica. Tigh can’t get his patch right in the mirror. Little does he know that’ll be the least of his problems today. A clean-shaven Chief goes ballistic over Cally’s name on the death list. I had forgotten that the Chief had a crazy streak in him too. He and Cally are quite the match. Tigh snaps him back to reality to go find out where they are taking the prisoners.

Sharon leads her squad through the woods to the meeting point. For those of you just joining us, she yells “Go Panthers” because that’s Adama’s favorite pyramid team. Samuel T. Anders just happened to be the head of the Caprica Buccaneers Pyramid team…which is why he responds “C-Bucs rule.” If you haven’t seen the scene from Season 2 where Anders and Adama meet, it’s a good one. Their rendezvous ends in a fun little shoot out with some Centurions. They find their map in the pocket of a Cylon and Anders immediately knows Ellen is to blame.

Chief’s squad finds the spot where the prisoners are about to be executed. They put the Centurions in their sights, but Cally is running right between them. The Chief knocks her down in an open field tackle before his squad unleashes their fury. Their mission is a success. Tom Zarek, evil, manipulating terrorist and all around dirty dog, swaps flirty banter with Roslin and I am not amused. The Chief tells the newly freed prisoners that Adama and Galactica are on their way back to save them.

Cylon Xena, model number Three out of twelve human looking Cylons, has disturbing dreams about a baby. Baltar gets a little mean with his favorite Cylon- Caprica Six. He makes a sarcastic remark about all the people need is toilet paper and then they’ll accept Cylon occupation. Six wants him to acknowledge her sacrifices to stay with him. For a split second, he actually is mean to her and I almost like him. But since it’s Gaius, the self destruct mode returns and I go back to calling him Greasy Baltar.

Prison house. Starbuck apologizes to Casey, her half Cylon child. There is a fine line between endearing and creepy and I have dubbed it “Baby ‘Buck”. The kid is cute and all but I’m not ready for the softer side of Starbuck unless it involves Anders or Apollo.

New Caprica. Xena Three uses the images from her dreams to find a human oracle. The oracle, tripping on some kamala, tells Three that Hera is still alive and she will hold her.

Galactica. Helo and Dualla divide up their respective crews for some scripture reading and hugging goodbye. Adama and Fat!Apollo meet for what could be the last time. Apollo wants to resolve some of their family drama but Adama tells him not to make him cry on his own hanger deck. It’s very moving complete with some Titanic sounding music.

New Caprica. Xena Three runs into Doc Cottle. The good doc is one of a very few who knows the truth about Hera. Xena tries to scare him into spilling the beans, but the doc manages to dodge the question.

Colonial One. Apparently the more you download, the more pain your new body remembers because Brother Cavil complains to the rest of the toasters. They argue some more about what to do and Doral again suggests nuking the planet.

Anders helps Sharon prepare for her individual mission. She has to get the launch keys from the Cylons. (The launch keys are what make the grounded ships work. They need all the ships on New Caprica to work so they can load them up with humans and get out of there while Galactica provides cover fire.) Anders hopes Sharon will find Starbuck. Roslin assigns Anders to protecting Hera. The Resistance, back with Roslin calling the shots, finalize their plans for evacuation. They bring Ellen in for questioning. Tigh looks horrified, angry and disappointed and all with one eye.

Sharon walks past any and all security to get the launch keys. Xena Three confronts her and blabs about Hera. Sharon’s nearly falls apart over the news, but instead believes that Adama would never lie to her. Ruh Roh. That’s one nasty confrontation coming. She shoots Xena Three in the knees so she won’t die, download and spoil the rescue. Sharon gives the Chief the keys. If you noticed awkwardness between them it’s because they were lovers in the mini-series.

Galactica. Helo gives Adama the green light. Adama gives a moving speech to his crew about how this mission will be legendary. Next week: mission is a go.

Jo works a boring job in a small Texas town and reserves the right to
spell it “ya’ll”. One day she’ll be a novelist, but until then you can
