NEW! “Office” Video (Spoilers)

Holy Moly!! Check out this new video from NBC which takes a look at the love square that is The Office’s Karen/Jim/Pam/Roy. It’s stuff we’ve all seen before until the last 20 seconds which gives us a glimpse in to the aftermath of Roy “I’m going to kill Jim Halpert”. In the words of TansterOMFG”…exactly.

George & Izzie Made Me Cry

Filed under Grey's Anatomy, Grey's Anatomy Recap

George & Izzie, Grey’s AnatomyI know there are those of you out there that just aren’t fans of Grey’s Anatomy. You are a small number but you do exist. I’m not sure why you don’t like the show, but I respect that you don’t. I for one LOVE LOVE LOVE this show. I mean, I really love it. I’ll dork out right now and tell you that last night I said out loud “Oh my God, I love this show” not once, but twice…to no one but my empty apartment. The writing, the acting – everything.

This scene from last night’s episode had me bawling my eyes out. It took me a few minutes to recover. I wasn’t keen on the whole George/Izzie hook-up last week. And I still don’t love the fact that he’s married. But I never thought I would actually buy it that George and Izzie could love each other as more than friends. But this scene…this scene damn near killed me.

Battlestar Galactica’s Grace Park Talks with MeeVee

I have something to confess. I am woefully behind on Battlestar Galactica watching. Three episodes behind to be exact. You all know that this is one of my favorite shows so this is killing me. It’s horrible. But BSG is not a show you can just watch in passing while you are doing other things. So this weekend I have decided that my reward for packing up my apartment for my move next week will be to watch Battlestar Galactica.

My love for BSG is strong, so when I came across this interview with Grace Park over at TV with MeeVee I had to share it. Enjoy.

1bataec04

Lieutenant Junior Grade Sharon “Boomer” Valerii is dead. And yet she just had a baby. Oh, and she’s a robot.

No, this isn’t your typical soap opera. This is a modern-day space opera.

This Sunday, Battlestar Galactica celebrates its third season finale. If the twists and turns of the plotline have gotten you dizzy (like Sharon’s life), then worry not: Grace Park, the actress behind Valerii’s amazing transformation — make that transformations — will bring you back down Earthside. The Korean American actress portrayed no less than three different characters, all of them Cylons (the robotic alien race bent on the destruction of humanity). But somehow, she and the viewers have kept it all straight. In this exclusive interview at the SciFi Channel Upfronts, Vito Delsante chats with Grace about politics, fans, and her love of sci-fi.

How do you feel your character arc has gone this year?
Can I say “out of this world?” Out in orbit and back a few times! It’s been so astounding playing two characters, and then just when one dies, she actually comes back! Add to that having to recreate everything that has happened in that [character’s] time frame. And then the other [character arc] which is seemingly so simple, running around on the planet with Helo (Lt. Karl Agathon, portrayed by Tahmoh Penikett). It just seemed like a nice break from the Battlestar. And the arc that’s developed with Sharon — having a child and a family and ultimately, holding up a candle for hope for the unification of these two races [the humans and the Cylons] that have been so bloodied and destroyed — it’s so beautiful.

Are the fans responsive to the show’s political implications?
I love it! And I think that’s what keeps a lot of our viewers interested. Growing up in the States, we’re exposed to political agendas on a daily basis, and if it’s not on our soil, it’s on someone else’s. So, if anything, it’s a forum for us to be able to see what Battlestar is putting out there. It opens the gates for us to discuss whether or not it’s a commentary on us, as a people, and open up the discussion.

Jenna Fischer’s “Interesting” Blades of Glory Interview

I’ve got like 20 minutes until it’s midnight and officially Friday. So with minutes to spare here’s one last bit of Office Thursday for you to enjoy. Check out this adorable interview with Jenna Fischer promoting “Blades of Glory“. The movie is going to be huge…this we all know.

But, but, but check out the last minutes of the video where the gushing Jenna talks about ending of Season 3 of The Office and gives a nod to Season 4. Is this Jenna giving a little something away? Don’t forget she’s the same evil mastermind that posted the pic of Pam and Roy with Roy wearing a wedding ring. She’s cute but she can’t be trusted that Jenna.

Uh Oh…A GMMR Favorite Being Canceled?

March 22, 2007 by

Ok super sleuth’s I need your help…or perhaps one of our beloved comedies does.  Michael Ausiello just posted this Blind Item about a comedy on the brink of cancelation.  Read below and then let’s chat:

This week’s blind item is so depressing, you may want to shield your eyes. It concerns a comedy series that enjoys a cult following, tons of buzz and heaps of critical praise. Unfortunately, the laffer in question lacks support where it counts the most: at the very network that airs it. You see, an influential suit at the net thinks the show is about as funny as a root canal, and is flummoxed by its appeal. He/she proved this by passing the laffer over for a major promotion earlier this season — a sleight that left members of the media (yours truly included) scratching their heads. Basically, said big shot would be more than happy to permanently clear it from the sked, and the program’s modest ratings may be just the excuse he/she needs. There’s just one problem: Because the knee-slapper isn’t perceived as a “bubble show,” there are no fan campaigns being organized to help save it. In other words, there’s a very real chance this endangered series could be put out to pasture in May with nary a postcard mailed or petition signed. And I can’t think of anything less funny than that. So, any guesses? I hate to say it, but this show’s very future probably depends on you figuring it out.

The options…Scrubs, 30 Rock, How I Met Your Mother, The Office?!

Let’s just scratch The Office right off the list.  It thankfully doesn’t fit in with the facts above.  But here’s what kills me…one show fits in VERY well.  That show?  My beloved How I Met Your Mother.  The clue that gave it away for me was “He/she proved this by passing the laffer over for a major promotion earlier this season…”.  A lot of TV critics were wonderin why HIMYM wasn’t given the coveted post-Super Bowl spot on CBS.

I’m kind of panicking here.  Any other thoughts on what show Ausiello is talking about?  And if it is HIMYM can you PLEASE PLEASE help me figure out a way to get the buzz going.  Don’t make me bring out a petition, because I will.

The Office Thursday on Give Me My Remote

NBC’s The Office

I was debating whether or not to write an Office Thursday post as The Office isn’t on tonight, and I’m pretty busy with my real job today. But in the end, it wouldn’t really feel like Thursday without it, so what the heck…here’s a mini Office Thursday for ya. Here’s a taste of what we’re talking about today:

  • Kate Flannery is blogging again, and we love it
  • Jenna Fischer is naked again, and we love it
  • The Dunder Mifflinites go from the small screen to the big screen
  • Why is everyone talking about Rashida Jones?
  • Sneak peek pics from “The Negotiation”
  • The Office video of the week
  • Oh and don’t forget that Rainn Wilson will be on “Ellen” tomorrow…set the TiVos

One note before we get started. I received a bunch of email from people wanting a copy of The Improper Bostonian with B.J. Novak on the cover. If you are still interested, email me at info(at)givememyremote(dot)com.

Tonight on The Office…
Jim and Pam There’s no new episode this week. Not even a repeat or a newpeat. So what’s an Office fan to do? How about you break out your DVDs and rewatch a classic. Perhaps “Hot Girl” from S1 or “The Secret” from S2. I’m personally going to concentrate on rewatching episodes that remind me that Jim and Pam were friends once. If you’re going to watch some oldies but goodies, let us know which ones and why.

From the Desk of Meredith Palmer…
Kate Flannery Kate Flannery is back with another TV Guide blog. This week Kate talks about some of the stuff going on in her life when she’s not on the show. You know, it’s very similar to my life actually. Going to movie premieres, having a TV show taped in my building. Getting dressed up and giving away awards. Just like my life. (Kate’s Blog)

Hollywood Press TV sat down with Kate Flannery for a 2-part on camera interview. This is great. Part 1|Part 2

Jenna Fischer Naked, Again…
Jenna Fischer, Wired Magazine
Well that certainly got your attention. Talk about Fancy New Beesly. Jenna Fischer bares all but covers everything for the latest cover of Wired Magazine. I don’t know, but something tells me that they airbrushed Jenna a bit too much. It almost doesn’t even look like her. But the Wired guys know how to get our attention, I’ll give ’em that much (story and pictures at The Office LJ community)

TiVo Regis & Kelly Tomorrow for Neil Patrick Harris

Neil Patrick Harris

While Regis is recovering from surgery his chair on Live with Regis and Kelly is being filled by some famous guest hosts. Earlier this week Howie Manel joined Kelly Ripa. I thought I was going to rip my hair out. He wouldn’t shut up and was so annoying I had to mute him. But Howie is gone and today and tomorrow Neil Patrick Harris (Barney, How I Met Your Mother) is co-hosting with Kelly.

If you are a fan od NPH then you should record the show. He was absolutely adorable this morning and he had a naturally fun repoire with Ripa. I enjoyed him so much I thought I should pass it along so those of you on the West Coast can watch today, and those of you on the East Coast can set up the TiVo for tomorrow.

Barney’s Top 10 Things I Would Have Called My Truck

March 21, 2007 by
Filed under How I Met Your Mother

As always, Barney was the BEST thing about this week’s episode of How I Met Your MotherNeil Patrick Harris is golden, and I’m not really sure why he is getting passed over for the Emmy nod – he’s really makes the show.

So in this past week’s episode, Barney was trying to prevent Ted from moving in with Robin, so he stole Ted’s truck. In true Barney style, he transformed the moving truck (with the help of Ted’s belongings) into a personal love den (on wheels).  Sadly the truck was returned, but not before Barney had a little fun with it.

Ryan Seacrest’s Obscene Gesture on American Idol

March 21, 2007 by
Filed under American Idol, American Idol Recap

Ryan Seacrest knew exactly what he was doing when he made a somewhat obscene hand gesture on camera during American Idol last night. Of course he masked it as if he was talking about the mic stand, but he wasn’t, and he knew it. Paula, Randy, and Simon picked up on it too. Funny stuff. As obnoxious as they are during the show, I think I’d like to go out boozing with Seacrest and Simon some night – these guys know how to have fun.

Check out the video (not the best quality) and check out Ryan at the 15 second mark.

Thanks to Srah for the video.

The Office Cast as “The Last Mimzy” Premiere

Rainn Wilson’s new movie, The Last Mimzy, is getting rave reviews all around. We are so happy for him!! I can’t wait to see it this weekend, and if you love The Office then get out there and support Rainn.

Last night was the L.A. premiere of the film and some of our favorite Dunder Mifflinites made an appearance. Jenna Fischer, John Krasinski, Angela Kinsey, Brian Baumgartner, Melora Hardin Paul Lieberstein and Rashida Jones were all in attendance. I considered keeping this for our weekly Office Thursday post but I just couldn’t. Besides it’s my birthday and if I can’t spend it with John Krasinski then I can at least treat myself with lots and lots of pics of JKras and crew. So weird, the massive flower delivery from John hasn’t been delivered yet. I guess I’ll just sit here and wait…and wait…and wait.

Friday Night Lights Interviews and More

Friday Night Lights Cast

You’re going to have to take my word for it, but I did my happy dance this morning when I realized that we get a brand new episode of Friday Night Lights tonight. The dancing stopped when I figured out that this means we only have a few more until the (sniff, sniff) season finale. Yes, SEASON finale…not series finale. This show WILL be back next season. See my friend Oprah told me all about “The Secret” and just by saying it out loud and putting it out into the universe it will happen. So Friday Night Lights WILL be back for season 2.

The fabulous Maureen Ryan at The Chicago Tribune was lucky enough to recently spend some time with the cast on their set in Austin, TX. Until NBC picks up the phone and invites me down to Austin, I’m going to have to live vicariously through Mo. Check out these fantastic interviews and get excited for tonight.

Oh before we move on let me just say that I have plans tonight and I’m TiVoing the show untilI get home, so please be careful not too spoil me with any emails you send. Pretty please with Matt Saracen on top (TWSS).

Kyle Chandler (Coach Eric Taylor)
“A lot of people go, ‘Oh, you guys improv that.’ No, we don’t improv it. It’s far more than improv. [Executive producer] Pete Berg said, ‘The few rules to the game that we play are, you come to the set, you know your character 110 percent, you know the lines that are on the page 110 percent, and then be prepared to get rid of everything and start all over.’”
Interview with Kyle Chandler >>

Connie Britton (Tami Taylor)
“People say that to me all the time, how much they appreciate the representation of that marriage. There was that scene under the table, where we’re having a party at our house and they have [that confrontation] under the table. That really impacted so many women, they feel like they’ve been in that place before. I think the only thing that’s really extraordinary about any of it is – the point is, it’s all kind of mundane, but we’re telling it in such a true way that it resonates.”
Interview with Connie Britton >>

Zach Gilford (Matt Saracen )
“We’re getting people pulled in not because the drama is so foreign to them, so that’s exciting and that’s why they watch, but we’re pulling them in because it’s a drama they’ve gone through and they can relate to.”
Interview withZach Gilford >>

Jesse Plemons (Landry Clarke)
“I grew up in a town just like this. I’m from Texas, I’m from a town called Mart, population 2,000. So I think the reason why I’ve so much fun with it is there are so many people I can think back to.”
Interview with Jesse Plemons >>
