Tonight’s TV Spotlight…Thursday, January 28, 2010

January 28, 2010 by

Is it wrong that it’s only 5:15am and I’m already dreading tonight’s TV lineup? It’s not that there are too many shows on. In fact with NBC airing reruns, tonight’s TV schedule is lighter than usual. But tomorrow is my last day at my “real job” and I have (gasp!) plans tonight with some co-workers, so I won’t be home in time to watch TV. And when I do get home I plan on being too drunk to write anything coherent. Kidding (maybe…kind of). Luckily we have Seels covering BONES and Nicole covering SUPERNATURAL. I’ll make THE VAMPIRE DIARIES my top priority (upon sobering up) and I might even get to PROJECT RUNWAY this week. (No promises. PR might have to be a podcast only show. We’ll see.)

Check out the highlights from tonight’s lineup and then share what YOU will be watching in the comments below.

The Deep End | 8pm on ABC
“Where There’s Smoke”
Beth faces her father in court; Addy’s new clients put the firm in danger; Cliff inadvertently gets Katie sent to the Montana offices indefinitely.[GMMR: Who watched last week’s series premiere? Anyone? What did you think of it? I made a promise to give this show one more episode to see if there is a hint that it will get better.  My confidence is low.]

The Vampire Diaries | 8pm on The CW
“Unpleasantville”
Damon and Stefan try to identify the new vampire in town; Matt gets a job at the Mystic Grill; Stefan and Damon accompany Elena to a school dance.

Bones | 8pm on CBS
“The Dentist in the Ditch
A human skeleton is found in the trenches of a Civil War battleground; Booth’s brother returns from his trip with surprising news.

Supernatural | 9pm on The CW
“Swap Meat”
A teenage nerd (Colton James) conjures up a spell to swap bodies with Sam. After the switch, the boy investigates a case with an unwitting Dean and enjoys the perks of being good-looking and older. Meanwhile, Sam is stuck in the kid’s body and deals with intrusive parents and high school.

Fringe | 9pm on FOX
“The Bishop Revival”
When a group of wedding guests in Massachusetts suffocate from the inside out, the team must find out how the toxin was delivered and targeted.

Burn Notice | 10pm on USA
“Friendly Fire”
Sam’s old friend comes to town to ask for a favor. Elsewhere, Michael tracks a child predator while also befriending an unstable spy runner in order to figure out what he’s up to in Miami.

Also playing…

  • Live for the Moment | 8pm on ABC: An event inspires a person to share insights on how to change one’s life.
  • America’s Best Dance Crew | 10pm on MTV | Season Premiere: The top crews out of the South compete for their region.
  • Archer | 10pm on FX: Malory hosts a dinner party in an effort to get a new weapons contract for ISIS; a group of rival assassins targets Mr. Utne.
  • Project Runway | 10:00pm on Bravo: The designers butt heads when they have to work in teams of two.  As personalities clash in the workroom, tensions come to a head on the runway.  Guest judge is designer Matthew Williamson.

Which shows will YOU be checking out tonight?

Thursday is crazy! TVD and SPN are top priorities with Bones coming up next. Then it’s a toss up for Project Runway, Burn Notice and ABDC. Some of that might be weekend material. Now that everything is back, I haven’t really gotten into my TV groove. I am sure the Olympics will mess with that too.

Was The Deep End really that bad? I still haven’t watched the pilot but was going to try to then watch it at 7 since it works out this week.

Yeah, it was. And as I promised I would I watched the second episode tonight, just to say I gave it a fair shake. AWFUL! So many things wrong with it. But what really crossed the line into the absurd was..

All the femals paralegals/lawyers having a kissing contest with one of the new associates. Yup, just walking up to him in the middle of the office and making out with him. Yeah, because that’s going to happen in a law firm…or anywhere for that matter. It was cheap. I am floored that shows of this quality make it to air, yet something like Friday Night Lights has to bow to the gods of DirecTV to save its ass.
