HOLEY MOLEY – “Holey Moley,” a 10-episode mini-golf competition series, will showcase self-proclaimed mini-golf lovers from around the country as they compete head-to-head through an epic obstacle golf course. In each episode, 12 contestants will put their miniature golf – and physical – skills to the test and face off in never-before-seen challenges on a supersized miniature golf course. ABC is launching one of the wildest competition shows on television with its new series HOLEY MOLEY.

On paper, the series is extreme miniature golf (think mini golf + WIPEOUT x the insanity of THE MASKED SINGER), but even that explanation isn’t enough to describe how bonkers the show is.

“It is the funnest, craziest, most extreme miniature golf game you have ever experienced,”  sideline reporter Jeannie Mai told reporters. “It was the coolest job I’ve ever had…There I was for ten episodes watching some of miniature golf’s most creative fanatics from around the US compete head-to-head for 25 thousand dollars. And to avoid being slapped on their butt from a huge rotating windmill [or] from a monstrous polar bear that was keeping them from being able to reach their hole. It was insane. If you’ve ever played miniature golf, this is unlike anything you have ever experienced.”

In the series, the contestants face off against each other in three rounds: the first two are head-to-head, as first the top 12 (and then top six) contestants battle against an opponent to move forward. Then, the top 3 battle for the ultimate prize. (In the event of a tie, there is a putt-off.)

Mai acknowledged that a portion of the appeal to viewers will be how relatable the sport actually is. “We all have experiences and memories from miniature golf…everyone has a memory,” she said. “We have to have more shows we can watch with our family…this is a show you can watch with anyone in your family. It’s fun. You can laugh…and also see people who are passionate about something.”

And the show also boasts some impressive guest stars: Steph Curry, who is an EP on the show, appears on the series (both in a tongue-in-cheek fashion and as a part of the competition), and other top-secret celebs pop up throughout the first season.

“We had celebrity guests every episode, and some of them were very intimidating,” Mai said. “There was one iconic person, I can’t say who it is, but I can’t believe I met this person. I watched them my whole life growing up. I kind of fangirled, but you want to be the sideline reporter who is calm and cool. But then you also have Steph Curry, who is also there swinging and putting. It was really cool how HOLEY MOLEY brought together such epic people for a family-friendly fun event.”

HOLEY MOLEY, Series Premiere, Thursday, June 20, 8/7c, ABC
