THE OFFICE’s TV Guide Cover

April 7, 2008 by

Jim, Pam and Dwight will be on the cover of the April 14th issue of TV Guide. Many people were wondering what secrets the cover would reveal, and sadly not many. There’s plenty of speculation to be had (and you know we love that around here), but whether or not the accompanying article will deliver on the questions raised on the cover is yet to be seen.

The Office, TV Guide - Cover

What I don’t like is the look on Pam’s face when the text surrounding her reads “Will Jim propose? Will Pam accept?” I really can’t take that kind of stress in my life right now. Listen up, Beesly. I know you are trying to be all FNB and you just got out of a ten year relationship which included a three year engagement, but this is Jim Halpert. James ‘Frakking’ Halpert. Don’t be turning him down, the boy can only take so much. More of my speculation after the jump. (Update: The more I look at that picture the more I’m convinced that the hand around Pam is Dwight’s and hence her shocked expression)

In case you were wondering, yes, I am very excited for next Thursday’s all new episode of THE OFFICE.

A few spoilers from inside the issue after the jump.

SPOILERS! SPOILERS! SPOILERS! SPOILERS! SPOILERS!

Here are some spoilers from inside the issue courtesy of posters over at TWOP.

  • Jim and Pam, says Krasinki, “from a character standpoint, they’re perfect for eachother, and I personally would love to see them jump to wedding bells, though I think Pam has to work out some issues first.” Fisher adds, “What does Pam do with the fact that she’s been working at a paper company for seven years and is 30 and still answering phones.”
  • Dinner Party’ talk, nothing we don’t know
  • Talk of Michael, Ryan and Dwight partying in NYC, mention of Ryan taking a “bigger role this season”
  • ‘Parking’ talking, again not much we don’t know (except this made me laugh, “everyone’s about to kill each other until they realize that the whole thing could have been averted by moving one truck”)
  • Golf outing and hour long finale
  • Dwight will bottom out in a few weeks
  • Michael is just happy go lucky when it comes to work, not mention of what’s to come about Jan

Agreed that Pam should accept, but understandable why she would be reluctant with the Roy Years fresh on her mind. Good times indeed.

    Meanwhile, wowza. Jenna’s makeup.

Maybe they’ll get married and adopt Dwight. How’s that for a spin off?

maybe the spin off is jim and pam leaving scranton together as newlyweds.

GMMR – Thanks for this “advance word,” I can’t wait to get this issue in the mail!!!

Regarding the look on Pam’s face — it IS a bit unsettling given the text on the cover, but it would be completely natural if the hand on her arm is actually Dwight’s and not Jim’s. I can’t tell whose hand it is, and if we look at it like Pam thinks it’s Dwight’s hand, the look is totally understandable and nothing to worry about. 😉

I can’t believe The Office is coming back soon! YAAAAAY!!!!!

He’s not going to propose. I’m convinced this a classic “lets make up something to sell copies” headline.

But if he did propose, I would be OK with Pam turning him down or asking for time to think about it. She might not be ready yet ( and honestly who could blame her) and we don’t really know how she feels about Halpert. We all know that Jim has been in love with her forever, but is she that into him?

Someone else spec’d that maybe Pam is offered the internship. Jim proposes and she says she wants to marry him but she just has to do this for herself first. Or maybe he proposes and she says yes, but then she’s offered the internship and he puts off the wedding so she could do this for herself. She has flashbacks of Roy but Jim insists it’s different. Maybe this plays into the whole (SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER! about a series regular leaving Dunder Mifflin at the end of the season. Maybe Pam does leave, and when she comes back she’s not the receptionist but in graphic design or something. END OF SPOILER!!!)

“Maybe Pam does leave, and when she comes back she’s not the receptionist but in graphic design or something. END OF SPOILER!!!)”

Ah, that makes sense, GMMR. I like that theory.

Wow. Those pictures look pretty fake to me. But I am so excited for the show to return.

I just wanted to put a plug in for a great website, if I could, called NorthernAttack (http://forums.northernattack.com). There are forums there where you can chat about the episodes and other Office related stuff. Not to take anything away from GMMR. I love this site too.

Oscar, dont you think it’s rude to plug another website here? I do.

    No worries, it’s all good.

NorthernAttack used to have in-depth recaps and analyses, but then he quit doing that. I haven’t actually checked the site since then.

GMMR I agree with your theory about Pam leaving. I started thinking that after I heard that someone was leaving. I thought it would give more to the Pam character arc.

I also believe that it is Dwight’s hand. I think they should have a double cover or another image of this one from farther back and you see Jim’s hand around her waist or holding her hand and that it’s Dwight hand that she is shocked with.

I think it would be great (although a bit stupid of him!) if Jim asked Pam to marry him… (wait for it…) i mean as far as he is concerned he could see the relationship as being long term even though it really only just started. BUT (this is the wait for it part) i would LOVE it if she said no. Because it IS too fast and she DID just get out of another engagement. She’s still working out who Pam is, instead of knowing who pamandroy is, and i think she needs more time and i think she knows that and i think Jim will know that after the rejection wears off. I think it would be better for the storyline if he asked and she no. Not a blanket ‘No’, just something like Buffy’s cookie speech to Angel and that she’s not finished baking yet. Believe me, i LOVE Jim and Pam, but now they are actually together i sort of don’t know what to do with them! And i think doing this and having angst again is better than fluffy wuv stuff. Although fluffy wuv is all i used to want… And i think that Pam might still be licking her wounds from her last wedding attempt. Hmmm i always wanted David Denman to come back… maybe Pam can kiss HIM in the parking lot days before her wedding to Jim. Oh i’m just being silly now!

Did you see OfficeTally? Jenna confirmed that it’s Rainn’s hand, not John’s.

I will be DEVISTATED if JAM falls apart…they are by FAR the cutest and PERFECT relationship on TV (possibly TV history!!)…and the thought of losing Pam to a “spin-off” show would be TERRIBLE as well!! JAM needs to stay together FOREVER and I hope the writer’s agree!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂

  17. Caroline on April 16th, 2008 3:30 pm

Well, according to aussiello, the big stuff that happens for pam and jim is not them splitting up, but wither, they are eloping (which I highly doubt), getting engaged (too soo) or having sex (which kinda seems like a weird story line). So JAM is most deff staying together

What is with that cover??? They look plastic!
