Veronica Mars: The Movie - Give Me My Remote : Give Me My Remote

Veronica Mars: The Movie

August 19, 2008 by

Don’t tease me. Especially not about this.

I don’t always buy what Ausiello is selling but I sooo want to believe his report that there is talk about a possible VERONICA MARS movie. I miss Veronica…and Logan, Wallace, Mac, and especially Dick CASABLANCAS. I am still harboring bitter feelings at how the show ended. I choose to blame The CW although I guess Rob Thomas is really the one in the wrong…he did write it. But all will be forgiven if we are given a movie. Hell, it doesn’t even need to be a theatrical release, I’d take a 2-hour CW flick, a stage show…something….anything.

According to Ausiello, Rob Thomas and star Kristen Bell have recently discussed the possible big screen return of our favorite PI. When asked directly about it, creator Rob Thomas said,”Kristen and I ran into each other, and we did discuss a Veronica movie.” Ausiello also reports that Thomas has had a few talks with VM executive producer Joel Silver too.

He goes on to say, “It’s very tough to focus on it right now with two pilots on my plate, but as soon as I have any free time, that’s my top priority.”

Someone get this man some free time…I am begging you.

Perhaps a dumb question given that I know all of you so well, but would anyone else be interested in a VERONICA MARS movie?

If this happens I think it will be a bit of a shocker.

    Hell yes, I would!

  2. Alyson on August 19th, 2008 3:31 pm

Absolutely…anything for a little Logan, Veronica, Weevil and Mac. Anything.

If I had a few extra thousand dollars, I would personally pay for the production of a VM movie. Even if it’s a internet movie blog, I don’t care! I miss Veronica and the whole Neptune gang =(

How about a cool Veronica FBI chick movie? How cool would that be?

  5. Billiam on August 19th, 2008 3:50 pm

Enrico Colantoni said in TV Guide a couple weeks ago that he would like there to be a movie, but hadn’t heard anything about it.

Both a Veronica Mars movie and an Arrested Development movie (for which there are also rumors) would be great, though I wouldn’t really hold my breath for either.

A more realistic thing I want is for the actors who played Wallace, Mac, Dick and Weevil to get some more work. Parker was cute too. And I liked the nerdy guy in season 3 who sold test answers.

My heart totally skipped a beat when I read this news. There are no words to express how much I want this to be true. An FBI plot would be pretty cool, but only if they could fit Logan in there somehow. And Wallace. And Dick Casablancas. And Papa Mars. And maybe they could bring Lamb back from the dead too. That shouldn’t be too hard.

I might even think about selling my first born to make this happen. I’d even go for a straight to dvd movie. Anything!

I recently did a complete rewatch and it was even better the fifth time around. VM is love, people… Logan Echolls is forever.

LoVe forever. Man, I would love to see ALL of them again. I terribly miss Gilmore Girls and Veronica Mars and WISH that either one would come back into my life. Of the 2, I’d prefer a decent Gilmore Girls ending but if V. Mars is more likely to come true, I’m in FULL anticipation mode and on the edge of my seat. I’d go see it 3 or 4 times, Rob Thomas. And movie tickets in my area are pushing $11. That’s a full $33 or $44 JUST FROM ME! 🙂

    Honestly, I don’t know.
I loved VM and miss it dearly – but I am so paranoid that they would totally frack a VM movie up, I worry that they would not do it justice. I am with Billiam on this, the safer bet is to get the actors more work.

Maybe I just still have the series finale bad taste in my mouth.

    I’d definitely watch it!!!!
My wish would be for it to focus on the original core cast and their relationships – Papa Mars, Weevil, Wallace, LoVe and Mac (with the requisite Dick, Sherrif and Neptune elements).
What about a movie that deals with something that happened between season 1 and 2? Sort of like what BG has done?

OH MY GOD THIS WOULD BE A DREAM COME TRUE. sigh. i miss VM.

  12. jennyl on August 19th, 2008 10:04 pm

Absolutely I would! 🙂 Best news I’ve heard in a while! It would be great to see a proper ending/conclusion.

  13. Jen on August 20th, 2008 12:33 am

This would make me the happiest girl in the world! 🙂

  14. Liz on August 20th, 2008 12:48 am

I kind of lost interest after the second season, but I do want to pick up the show again sometime to see if it improved at all…and I could DEFINITELY use more Logan.

  15. Jennie on August 20th, 2008 8:22 am

I would be so scared that it would be awful, but it would be so worth taking the risk just to see Veronica and her dad together again! I love their relationship!

I would like to see a better ending as well, maybe they can do a TV movie where they just continue from that very painful ending. I watched the FBI show on the 3rd season DVDs and….well, I don’t know if I’d want to watch a whole movie of that.

Neptune is where the magic is, I think.

  16. Kristina on August 20th, 2008 9:15 am

Oh, I would really love this. I miss VM so much (well…1st and 2nd season VM). I’m a little freaked that it will be awful, just because I’m reminded of a Jason Dohring interview back when there was a possibility of a 4th season, and he said something about Logan committing some “irredeemable act” that makes Veronica unable to forgive him. NO!

  17. Carli on August 20th, 2008 12:07 pm

Wow, he really shouldn’t tease us like this! Someone definitely needs to get RT some free time, ASAP.

  18. Lindsay on August 21st, 2008 2:55 pm

I really loved Veronica Mars (series finale not withstanding), but I don’t really understand why they’d do a movie, at least from a financial standpoint. If the show didn’t have enough ratings to stay on the air, would it be enough of a draw as a movie? That being said, I’d totally watch this movie, but I’m thinking this is just a wishful thinking kind of thing.

  19. marian on August 23rd, 2008 2:26 pm

Hell yeah! I’d do anything to see Veronica & the gang again. I hope this isn’t just some rumor. VM was one of the best shows on TV, the least they could do is give it a decent ending.

  20. Andy on September 1st, 2008 11:32 am

I’d love a VM movie, but I’d rather see a revamped TV series, marketed to grown-ups. We know VM was one of the most brilliant TV series ever, but no one watched cause they thought it was a kids’ show…on the CW. (“The what?”)

Make it a gritty PI show (or FBI show? Or an ex-FBI agent who tired of bureacracy and went back into private practice?) in San Diego or LA. If the networks don’t want it, HBO knows a winner – bet they’d take it.

    OK, back to reality…
