THE SIMPSONS New Opening Credits in HD : Give Me My Remote

THE SIMPSONS Get a Makeover

February 14, 2009 by

This Sunday THE SIMPSONS will have a little bit of a different look.  Bart and his family are going HD.  And to mark the occasion, the show is getting a brand new opening title sequence – the first major upgrade to the titles in almost two decades.

Our friends at Fox sent this over last night and now I’m sharing with you.  See how that works?

The first ever HD episode will air this Sunday at 8pm est on FOX.  In “Take My Life Please”, Homer gets a glimpse of what his life would have been like if he had been elected class president in high school.

Are you digging the new opening titles?

Mixed feelings about it. I assume the extended couch chase is just this week’s “couch gag” and will be different each week. The references to other episodes (Mr Sparkle, Tomacco juice, etc) are fun to see, as are the updated street shots with Apu with his kids, Comic Book Guy, etc — although the inclusion of the Crazy Texan puzzles me. He is neither noteworthy or popular and surely there are other Springfield citizens more deserving of being in the title sequence (Sea Captain, Bumblebee Man, etc). It’s a beautiful sequence in any case, wish I had HD to fully appreciate it.
