Tonight’s TV Spotlight…Sunday, April 12, 2009

April 12, 2009 by

For those of you who celebrate, I wish you a Happy Easter. I’m looking forward to spending the day with my family. And then when that’s done, I’m going to be running around like a crazy person packing for my trip to L.A. I can’t believe I leave tomorrow! I couldn’t be more excited!

But that’s tomorrow. Tonight is tonight and there’s some great TV to check out.  Sadly, KINGS is no longer part of that list. The remaining episodes of KINGS will be burned off on Saturday nights.  Yes, another interesting show bites the dust. It’s getting tougher and tougher to commit to a show these days, isn’t it?

Cable runs Sunday night this week. What will YOU be watching?

The Amazing Race | 8pm on CBS
Rooting Around in People’s Mouths Could Be Unpleasant”
Several racers find themselves shoeless and without passports after leaving their backpacks at a roadblock; teams compete in a karaoke-themed detour; one team is eliminated.

The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency | 8pm on HBO
“Poison”
A young woman worries about her unusually fearful father; a doctor asks for an investigation into his patients’ mysterious deaths.

The Tudors | 9pm on Showtime
The rebellion now known as the “Pilgrimage of Grace” begins in earnest, with Henry dispatching Brandon to deal with the uprising; bedridden due to the recurrence of his jousting injury, Henry takes a new mistress: Lady Ursula Misseldon.

In Treatment | 9pm & 9:30pm on HBO
Mia Week Two: Mia admits that she tried to impress Paul by flaunting her job and her relationship with a married co-worker.

April Week Two: April details her detachment from a former boyfriend and his current partner.

Also playing…

  • Extreme Makeover: Home Edition| 8pm on ABC: The team renovates the hurricane-damaged home of a Florida man battling brain cancer, his wife and their adopted special-needs children; Stevie Wonder performs a private concert for the family when the renovation is revealed.
  • Cold Case | 9pm on CBS: While preparing for their annual softball game, team members are called in to investigate the murder of a former Cuban baseball star who escaped to the United States after running afoul of his government.
  • The Unit | 10pm on CBS: Members of the team are forced to hunt down one of their own when Sam attacks Bridget.
  • Breaking Bad | 10pm on AMC: Walt returns to work; Skinny Pete gets ripped off; Jesse gets more than he bargained for; Skyler thanks Gretchen for paying for Walt’s treatment.

What Sunday shows are YOU going to be watching tonight?

I’ll be watching Masterpiece Classic on PBS — it’s the third episode of Charles Dickens’ “Little Dorrit” and it’s EXCELLENT! 🙂

Have a wonderful holiday, GMMR, and a SAFE trip to L.A.!

    how ’bout Chuck?
Seriously, if there is no Brothers and Sisters… well, let’s see what my DVR has in mind:
2 eps Untold Stories of the ER.
2 ep WKRP (those are for my brother, seems the syndiecuts have original music)
1 rerun of Grey’s Anatomy from Lifetime

what will I actually watch? well, the DVR is full so whatever I can actually delete – I have 6 months of Jeopardy, I could edit and offload The Practice… but I probably wouldn’t be watching it while I did
    DVDs –
Season 3 of How I Met Your Mother
    Season 7 of Scrubs
    Season 4 of Grey’s
    hmmm…

I’m disappointed about Kings! It’s a really interesting concept, with some complex storylines germinating, and within a month the network has already given up on it.

What the hell is going on with TV these days, anyway?! At this rate, we’ll have NO new shows next season, and will instead have to be contented with endless renewals of any version of Law and Order, CSI: Pick A City, and medical dramas. Not that I don’t enjoy some of those, but where is the incentive to even to try and create a great show, with viewership low across the board (unless you’re a reality TV show?!) and networks not willing to allow more than two or three episodes with low ratings before dumping any new show? It seems crazy..
