Tonight’s TV Spotlight…Tuesday, May 5, 2009

May 5, 2009 by

Happy Cinco de Mayo. Usted tiene mi permiso para saltar en la televisión esta noche a fin de hacer algunas graves beber. Suponiendo que son legales. ESTARÉ con una Corona o dos.

But before we get to TV, I have to take a moment to wish my niece Emma a very HAPPY BIRTHDAY!  Emma turns 7 years old today.

Emma takes after her Auntie as she’s already a TV fan. Her favorite TV shows are:

– TOM & JERRY
– CLIFFORD
– ARTHUR!

Happy birthday, Em. Hope you have the best birthday ever!! xoxo, Auntie

P.S. Emma told me all she wants for her birthday is for NBC to Save CHUCK. Hear that Silverman?! Will you ignore the birthday wishes of a 7 year old?

(And no I’m not above exploiting my family to further my CHUCK agenda. She’s 7 now. She can take one for the team.)

Ok on to tonight’s TV…

American Idol | 8pm on Fox
The remaining finalists perform; guitarist Slash mentors the contestants as they prepare rock songs. [GMMR: This is going to be one hell of a show.  I can just feel it.  You’ve got Adam and Allison born for this night.  Let’s hope Kris can keep up. Oh and The Gokey. Whatevs. I kid, I kid…kind of.]

Scrubs | 8pm on ABC | Special Night
My Chief Concern
J.D. thinks about taking a new job; Turk starts his new role as chief of surgery; Gooch and Ted take their relationship to another level. [GMMR: Now it’s on Tuesday. ABC you are often quite shmucky.]

Better Off Ted | 8:30pm on ABC | Season Finale
“Get Happy”
Veronica works on improving morale at the company and reinventing herself as someone more likable after a survey reveals that the staff is miserable. Meanwhile, Ted tries to win over an older demographic in the first-season finale. [GMMR: In case this is the last time we meet, please let me say that it’s been a pleasure. I’m sorry more people didn’t watch you. Here’s to hoping ABC gets some taste & keeps you around. They owe us. ‘According to Jim’ was on for 8 seasons.  ABC has a lot of making up to do.]

Fringe | 9pm on Fox
“The Road Not Taken”

Olivia starts having elaborate visions; Walter confesses his previous knowledge about the Z.F.T. manifesto; Peter’s secret project is exposed. [GMMR: Project FRINGE Update – – still not caught up. That is all.]

The Mentalist | 9pm on CBS
Miss Red
Patrick plays suspects against each other as he tries to find the killer of a wealthy software company CEO, found dead on his yacht.[GMMR: I had hoped to watch last week but I forgot to set the DVR.  But it’s set. I’m watching tonight.]

Law & Order: Special Victims Unit | 10pm on NBC
“Crush”
A teenage girl (Carly Schroeder) is beaten up after sending out nude photos of herself via text message. She then gets arrested for producing and distributing child pornography, and faces a harsh sentence from a judge (Swoosie Kurtz). [GMMR: SWOOSIE!!  Reason enough for you to watch.]

My Boys | 10:30pm on TBS
“Madder of Degrees”
A sudden warm spell in the middle of winter has everyone catching spring fever. For PJ and Bobby, a picnic in the park turns into an important life decision. Kenny jumps head first into a new relationship. Mike buys a jeep and a dog in a vain attempt to channel Matthew McConaughey. And Andy tries to enjoy a week without Meredith and the kids. [GMMR: Uh oh.  We all know what happens when Mike tries out “The McConaughey”.  Can’t wait!  Plus Felicia Day (@feliciaday) has a small guest role.  Chances are she won’t get killed (unless Joss Whedon secretly wrote this one). Viva la Penny!]

A sneak peek at tonight’s MY BOYS

Also playing…

  • The Biggest Loser | 8pm on NBC: The contestants learn that their final challenge is to run a full marathon; former winners offer encouragement; America determines who will be the third finalist in the season finale.
  • Reaper | 8pm on The CW: Morgan gets invited to stay with the guys, but turns out to be a terrible guest; Andi lets Sock throw a bachelor party at the Work Bench.
  • NCIS | 8pm on CBS: Tony questions Ziva’s loyalty to NCIS; Special Agent Callen (Chris O’Donnell) goes under cover; Nate Getz (Peter Cambor) discovers the truth about Special Agent Macy and Gibbs’ relationship. [GMMR: I love me some Chris O’Donnell. Not enough to watch, but still, yay Chris!]
  • Dancing with the Stars | 9pm on ABC: Results show. Another celebrity and dance partner are voted off.
  • 90210 | 9pm on The CW: Silver and Annie throw a bridal shower for Adrianna while Ethan, Dixon and Liam plan a bachelor party for Navid; Jen and Ryan decide to have dinner together.

What will YOU be watching tonight?!

Not that I’m trying to speak up for ABC, but the President’s speech last week pre-empted Scrubs. I was so afraid ABC wouldn’t show this episode at all, so I’m pretty happy that they are showing it even if its a different night.

The thought of Better Off Ted not returning next year is upsetting. It’s really, really hilarious, and it has fast become a favourite of mine this year. Scrubs, on the other hand, i could do without, but I’ll see this season through anyway. I’ve always been an SVU fan, and seeing Swoosie again is going to make tonight’s episode AWESOME.

Happy Birthday Emma!! I hope you have a nice day.

I just caught up on Better Off Ted this weekend and i really hope the show comes back. It’s smart and funny.

I’m nervous for Kris Allen tonight. I’m worried that he’s going to be outdone by the others.

Emma is a CHUCK Fan…so she will gladly take one for the team! She watched a few episodes with me the other night! Once again Em….tv is only real sometimes and most of what happens on Chuick would not happen in real life!
