Cat Deeley - So You Think You Can Dance

Are you ready for the final SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE before next week’s finale? The dancers seem to be. The top 7 (Ashleigh is still out tonight), took the stage in a quirky and interesting Sonya Tayeh routine. Love her work.

There’s a lot to get done tonight including a performance by Kris Allen, so Cat quickly brought the guys on stage to share their fate. Those safe tonight will be competing for the title next week.

  • Russell – SAFE
  • Legacy – BOTTOM TWO (a bit of a surprise but I’m not too worried)
  • Jakob – SAFE
  • Ryan – BOTTOM TWO (he’s my pick to go home tonight)

Cat went to Mary for her reaction, and Miss Murphy screeched something. It was hard to understand her with all the ringing in my ears.  She congratulated Russell and Jakob on making it to the finale, and said she really didn’t know who would make it through to the finale.  (I happen to think she already knows, but maybe not. Maybe it’s just Nigel that knows in advance.)

Now that we know the fate of the guys, it’s time to find which two girls will be joining Jakob & Russell in the finale.  For the other two, we’ll have to wait until the end of the show.

  • Kathryn – SAFE
  • Ellenore – BOTTOM TWO
  • Mollee – BOTTOM TWO
  • Ashleigh – SAFE

WOW! Ok, so as of now we know that Russell, Jakob, Ashleigh and Kathryn are in the finale. Will it be Ryan/Legacy or Mollee/Ellenore joining them?

Enjoy the musical performance from the lip sycning ‘Wonder Girls’. I’m going to get a drink.

Big news! The show will be back for season 7 and auditions start in January.

Time for tonight’s solos. Legacy performed the solo he should have done last night. It was fantastic, innovative and showed of what he did best. Ellenore was up next and she too did an amazing solo. So beautiful. I’m really hoping they are both safe tonight. Please, please, please!

Ryan gave it his all on the stage tonight because I think he knew it was his last time performing…well at least until next week’s finale. And in the final solo of the night, Mollee took to the stage and flopped around (sorry, I couldn’t resist.)

While Glambert will be strutting his stuff during next week’s finale, tonight it was IDOL winner Kris Allen. I thought he sounded great, and as always he looked adorable. (So excited that IDOL is starting next month.  I hope you’ll be joining us here for our weekly IDOL breakdown.)

Here we go…results time.

The final girl heading to next week’s finale is ELLENORE!!

And the final guy heading into the finals is RYAN!

WHOA– Legacy is going home. I am shocked, shocked, shocked. So sad. Consider my night ruined.  Congratulations to Ryan.

Thoughts on the finale 6?

The irony and cruelness in me wants to say Legacy goes home tonight, but that would be way too much of a shocker.

Not shocked that Mollee is in the bottom. She hasn’t been able to get votes all year (ala Kayla last year). Elenor needs to stay! Aghhh. Ashley staying gives a little glimmer of hope for Ryan. Hmmmmm –

Wow. Nathan’s gone and they’re still bashing him! Poor guy. I wonder if there were some goings on behind the scenes.

My guess is that Mollee and Ryan will be going home tonight.

  3. Sara V on December 9th, 2009 8:32 pm

Um. Who the hell is this singing? And why do they have mike stands *and* wireless mikes? You don’t need two — especially if you’re not singing live.

  4. Michelle on December 9th, 2009 8:33 pm

I love Ryan but i think it’s time for him to go. Please please please let Ellenore stay. She is such an amazing unique dancer and Mollee just annoys the crap out of me

  5. Kimber on December 9th, 2009 8:36 pm

This hasn’t been my favourite season, and I’ve been finding it hard to watch and keep interested (I’m one of the people who went straight from SYTYCD S5 to SYTYCD Canada right back to SYTYCD S6!). But, having said that … I really, really, REALLY like Ellenore and hope she sticks around! I do like Mollee, though I guess I’m in the minority here. It’s sad that one of them will have to go, but I think it’ll be Mollee.

Guys … I like Russell, Legacy and Ryan, so … guess I’m SOL! I really can’t pick who will be going home among the guys!

  6. Sara V on December 9th, 2009 8:39 pm

@Kimber. I am actually enjoying this season much more than last season. No one really connected with me in Season 5. But I still miss Seasons 3 & 4 (3 was my first). Where are the Dominicks and Twitches?

  7. Alexis on December 9th, 2009 8:39 pm

I TOTALLY agree with you Nikky. Mollie is this year’s Kayla. Elenor and Mollie should both be in the finale. Ashley didn’t even dance last night, but I think her being partnered with Legacy for the first half helped her gain a fan base. Then there’s Kathryn. I thought he name was Natalie. Her and that other girl who got voted off last week look exactly the same to me and are no where NEAR the talent of Mollie and Elenor. I would put her in the top 3 girls over Ashley though.

With the boys, I think its spot in. Jakob was a finale lock. Ryan was definitely bottom 2 because I don’t think he lived up to the hype and I think his wife being on the show screwed him out of having a seperate identity to the viewers. He was Ashley’s husband and not Ryan. It was either going to be a toss up between Legacy and Russell in the bottom two. In my eyes, they are the same dancer. Urban dancers (crunk, b-boy) who have NO dance training who, week after week, surprised the judges and America. I hope they both make the finale.

I hope Mollee stays.- I really like her, but I like Elanor too.–
For the guys, I like legacy, but I think its time for him to go home so Ryan can dance with his wife. I would have preferred Ryan and his wife to go home.– I agree, last season and this season are not as good as Mark, Chelsey, Lacy,…..etc…

  9. Michelle on December 9th, 2009 8:45 pm

Wow – those solos were amazing! Why didnt Legacy do that last night instead of that silly thing with the phone. ELlenore’s was great too.

  10. Scott V on December 9th, 2009 8:49 pm

Kris is not all that any more….is he?

  11. Nikky on December 9th, 2009 8:52 pm

Wow – really pushing for time tonight. At this rate the final cut will be a swift kick out the door- very little sappy goodbye time.

So season 7… summer or what? I’m confused by the January audition timeline – there is no place on the FOX schedule until May.

  12. Kimber on December 9th, 2009 8:57 pm

@Sara V … you’re not alone! Most of my SYTYCD-watching friends didn’t connect with the dancers on S5 of SYTYCD. Wild! Yet I fell in love with almost all of the Top 10!

  13. nikky on December 9th, 2009 8:58 pm

    Mollee, check.

    YES!!!! Ryan, check!

Wow. my evil plan came to fruition. Sorry Legacy lovers. To be honest, Legacy’s growth and finals potential was so much more than Ryan’s and he should have been there. Not to be though, and I’m kinda excited.

  14. Kimber on December 9th, 2009 8:59 pm

I liked Mollee (and last season’s Kayla for that matter!) and Legacy, so I’m sad to see them both go! Never really fell for Jakob, so he could have easily been cut and I wouldn’t have cared.

  15. Alexis on December 9th, 2009 8:59 pm

I agree season 5 had the least interesting dancers. I’m only a fan of elenor and jakob. I FIRMLY believe that Ashley and Ryan should have been shown the door. Legacy and Mollie should not have gone home. FOX might as well hand over the $250,000 to Jakob. They’ve pretty much gave him no competition for the finale.

  16. Scott V on December 9th, 2009 9:00 pm

    Yeah-Legacy, but oh no…Mollee….

  17. Sara V on December 9th, 2009 9:01 pm

Wow. Didn’t see Legacy going home over Ryan. At this point though, I think they’re all so talented, that it really doesn’t matter. They’ll all do so much because of this.

I think I am really heartless…Mollee’s reaction to being sent home just annoyed me. Quit crying and appreciate instead all that you’ve done on the show. I need to remind myself that she’s only 18, and stop being such a dick.

  18. Give Me My Remote on December 9th, 2009 9:01 pm

I’m devastated. Thank goodness GLEE is on right now, that will make me smile. But wait, it’s the fall finale. Not another ep until April. Ugh, I’m in a bad mood again.

  19. Amanda on December 9th, 2009 9:18 pm

I’m so disappointed that Legacy went home. I seriously can’t wrap my head around it. Ryan is a great partner, but Legacy should’ve been in the finale.

    Ugh.

  20. Carly Fowler on December 9th, 2009 11:20 pm

Tonight was a total disappointment, both with SYTYCD and Top Chef. Luckily Glee was so awesome that I’m not going to bed *totally* bummed!

  21. BriSmith on December 10th, 2009 12:52 am

Legacy stole my heart from the beginning, along with Russell — neither have been fortunate enough to have dance training their whole lives, yet have overcome all odds. Both should be in the finale; I’m sorry to say, but Ryan HAS NOT grown like any of the others, although I would like to see him dance with his wife for once. Too bad they couldn’t have arranged a performance before the finale..

  22. Patty on December 10th, 2009 9:52 am

Very sad that Legacy had to go but am very happy with how far he made it and can’t wait to see him on tour! (when do tickets go on sale????)

Mollee – meh. Haven’t liked her the whole season.

As for the remaining 6? I loved Russell when we because the top 20 but it has been Jakob, Legacy and Ryan for me along with Ellenore and Kathryn for some time now. I have loved this season almost as much as S2! I can honestly say this is the first year that I have liked more people in the top 20 from the beginning than I have in any season past. Usually there are 1 or 2 that I pull for all season but this year? I was pulling for everyone (ok except Mollee and Nathan)

So are they moving back to summer? I think I like it in the summer better but this fall season seemed to FLY by!

  23. Sara V on December 10th, 2009 10:59 am

I just read that next week’s performance show is only going to be one hour long. A top 6 finale and only an hour to do it?!! That sucks. I’ve enjoyed this season but when the auditions/Vegas last twice as long as the competition because of baseball and then the Christmas holiday, maybe you need to rethink the whole Fall season idea. Grr.

Is there any chance that Cat Deeley (however you spell her name) will be off the show next year. I don’t know how much more of her I can take. Love the show and the judges but she is so into herself it isn’t even funny. She acts like she owns the show and knows more than the judges. If she doesn’t stand up straight she’ll need a hip replacement

  25. Kathy on December 11th, 2009 6:03 pm

Ann- Cat is so much a better host than Ryan Seacrest for Idol. She loves those dancers like her family, and her enthusiasm for them totally stands out and makes this show what it is.

Now, Mary’s screaching? That I could do with less of. And as much as I love the Shankman, I missed the different judges they would have each week. I hope that comes back this summer.
