THE OFFICE: Watch David Brent Meet Michael Scott

January 27, 2011 by

When David Brent and Michael Scott collide — It’s something many fans of THE OFFICE have only dreamed of since the show’s US premiere six years ago. Tonight, it was made into a reality.

East Coast fans may have already seen the cameo appearance by Ricky Gervais as oblivious Brit David Brent (who famously originated in the UK version of THE OFFICE), but the moment won’t air on the West Coast for another couple of hours.

Lucky for both coasts, however, we’ve got the guest appearance right here at Give Me My Remote for your viewing (and re-viewing) pleasure.

The scene finds our two bumbling bosses bumping into each other outside of an elevator and exchanging pleasantries — and accents.

As David Brent (Gervais) says in the clip, “Comedy is a place where the mind goes to tickle itself…That’s what she said!”

I smell soul mates.

Watch the continents collide in the following clip…

What did you think of the moment? Was it too brief for you? Do you now kind of wish (like I do) that these two would just drop the subtext and just run off with each other, being blissfully oblivious until the end of time?

The beauty of this scene was the instant chemistry of the two men, who spend their days yearning to be accepted for their eccentricities. As David & Michael became aware of their bond, they hugged like childhood friends at a reunion.

It was the first of many bows that Steve Carell will take as this season winds down, reminding viewers of the skillful manner with which he injects funny into scenes with so many different comedic dance partners…
