About Last Night…ONCE UPON A TIME, THE WALKING DEAD, DEXTER and More!

October 31, 2011 by

It’s official — Sunday is the craziest night of TV. But the best part of that? So many of these shows are ridiculously amazing, so it makes staying up all hours of the night totally worth it.

Let’s talk about what went down last night!

“I know the hero never believes at first. If they did, it wouldn’t be a very good story.” That little Henry on ONCE UPON A TIME is a smart cookie. And yes, I still love the show. I love that Henry flat out told Emma who her mother is versus dragging out the reveal for weeks or months. Now, we’re left with the big question of who remembers what in Storybrooke. How much does Mr. Gold know? How much does the Mayor remember? Does she realize she named her adopted kid after the father she killed in order to complete this curse? I want more, now, and I love that excitement with a show.

I’m a total nerd for Fox’s Animation Domination block, but the ALLEN GREGORY pilot didn’t grab me like I hoped it would. It seemed like most of the amusing parts were spoiled in the commercials leading up to the premiere, so I’m hoping I’ll like it more next week.

FAMILY GUY was not only incredibly unfunny, but also weirdly dark. Did any of you guys like it?

What I did love on Fox was their annual THE SIMPSONS “Treehouse of Horror” episode. The 127 HOURS opening was unexpected and the DEXTER parody killed me. (No pun intended.) I’m already looking forward to what they cook up next year.

I understand Lynette is in a terrible position on DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, but wow, I don’t think I’ve ever disliked her as much as I have this season. I understood her discomfort over Tom’s new girlfriend potentially making Penny a Halloween costume and I get why she reacted the way she did. But when Tom’s girlfriend opened up to Lynette and Lynette used that as an excuse to tell her to stop dating Tom? No. Just no. Does Lynette really think that she can scare off every other woman? If she wants Tom, she needs to talk with Tom.

It drives me crazy when promos reveal the last moment or so of an episode, and PAN AM‘s “next time on” revealed this week’s episode’s two final moment twists. Seriously? I found myself slightly more interested in this week’s episode and that is entirely thanks to the storyline with Goran Visnjic. If the show gets picked up for its back nine, can they please make him a series regular?

I seriously hope Brother Sam isn’t dead on DEXTER. He’s been one of the best parts of this DEXTER season and it would stink for Dexter to lose another friend so soon.

I’m all about dark shows, but goodness THE WALKING DEAD is literally dark. I had to rewind the final Shane scene multiple times to try and make out what was going on (beyond what I figured out from the audio)…what the heck is the point of that? I’ve noticed this a few times in the past few weeks, and frankly, it baffles me. If we’re supposed to have things in shadow, fine, but don’t make it so we can’t actually see what’s going on if we’re supposed to be able to. (I realize I sound about 90 years old with this rant. Whoops.) With that being said, BAD SHANE. His actions have to blow up in a major way…right?

Things still on my DVR/waiting to be watched: THE CLEVELAND SHOW and HOMELAND. I love both shows enough that they’re on my “to watch” list before I even start tonight’s TV.
