About Last Night…HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, HART OF DIXIE, CASTLE

November 22, 2011 by

It may be Thanksgiving week, but Monday TV was out in full force. And as you may have seen, there were quite a few buzzworthy moments to discuss, so let’s talk what went down last night…

Holy HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER shocker! Midway through “Rebound Girl,” I thought about how it would be fun to see Robin and Lily pregnant at the same time, but given the lengths the show went to disguise the real-life pregnancies of Alyson Hannigan (Lily) and Cobie Smulders (Robin) when it actually happened, I figured the pipe dream. And then we got that ending. Robin is pregnant! Is the baby daddy Kevin or Barney? Who knows. (Kevin and Robin not being together on Thanksgiving is a bit odd if they’re still together, especially since she’s Canadian and could theoretically celebrate with him…do we know exactly how much time passed between Robin and Barney slept together and Thanksgiving?)

Look, I’ve been vocal about my support of Robin and Barney getting together, but even if this is a false positive, the kid is Kevin’s (which would mostly annoy me because it would mean more Kevin), or if something else happens and it doesn’t go the way I might like, I’m okay with that. Because, quite frankly, the episode amused me. And for a show in its seventh season to still be funny? That’s what ultimately matters.

I love HART OF DIXIE so much. And goodness, how glad should Zoe be to live in Bluebell, because apparently her New York “friends” are only good for trashing Lavon’s house and sleeping with men Zoe may be interested in. (Lavon’s look of disgust when he found out what Zoe’s so-called BFF did was hilarious.) I’m intrigued to see what new groups might get storyline in the future, because the Wade/Lemon/George dynamic was fun. (Oh, and HOD killed me when they played The Wreckers’ “Leave the Pieces” as Lavon and Lemon discussed their relationship, because that song is perfect for them.)

Can we talk about CASTLE for a moment? How fantastic was Stana Katic as Beckett completely lost control of her emotions? While it was completely uncomfortable to witness Beckett so undeniably off her game, props to the show for not forgetting what she went through five minutes after it happened. Beckett nearly died. While we may take that for granted because we knew they wouldn’t kill off the show’s leading lady, in that world, there was no guarantee Beckett would survive a sniper’s shot to the heart. Given how often she puts her life in harms way (and with a sniper on the loose), good that she dealt with the issues that had been plaguing her. And as a bonus, we got to see even more of the Beckett-Esposito friendship, something that is often overlooked in favor of the Castle-Beckett and Esposito-Ryan relationships.

Which Monday shows impressed you?

I wish Hart of Dixie was easier to watch online! I’ve been wanting to get into it so much, but the CW’s video service frustrates me so much!!!

EVERYTHING ABOUT MONDAY (those three shows) IMPRESSED ME!!

    Loved the HIMYM twist.

Hart of Dixie continues to be just so charming and at times heart-breaking! (I so wanted Levon to kiss her!) Lemon is her least annoying when she’s away from George and her dad and with Levon and Wade (loved the “Lemon-ade” (platonic) dynamic last night!)

And Castle…wow and woah! Anyone who doesn’t think it’s Emmy worthy should watch last night’s episode. Stana was amazing but if it hadn’t been a Beckett driven episode it would have been Jon Huertas night because he was simply brilliant. (And yes, I am giving kudos to someone other than Nathan Fillion…so you know that they must have been pretty darn good!)

Hart of Dixie is available on iTunes (Canada…so presumably the States too).

HIMYM said it had been a ‘couple of weeks’ since Barney broke up with Nora, so I’m guessing that’s how long it’s been. I wondered where Kevin was too, but I just assumed he was out celebrating Thanksgiving with his mom or something…

God, what a twist! I’m so excited for all the possibilities! But one thing I’m determined the writers have to do is KEEP ROBIN PREGNANT. We’ve already had one episode with a false positive, and also one where Robin tells Barney she’s pregnant for no freakin’ reason, so it doesn’t make sense to repeat those stories. Plus Robin in this episode was so bipolar and screamy and really un-Robin-like, it’s got to be pregnancy hormones…

With Lily’s pregnancy, everyone knows what’s coming. With Robin, though, the possibilities are much more exciting. Not just who the dad is, but how Barney and Kevin react to the news, and whether Robin gets an abortion or not (which would be interesting, since, to my knowledge, not many TV shows have adults getting abortions). I’m really excited for this twist, and I hope they do it proper justice.
