Vodcast! Danielle and Marisa Grade 5 Dramas

December 19, 2011 by

It’s time for another vodcast!

During the last installment, my friend Danielle Turchiano (from Made Possible By Pop Culture) and I talked about which shows surprised us this year, but since we only got to talk in depth about a few, we wanted to discuss a few more shows we both watch.

Below, we grade SUPERNATURAL, FRINGE, CASTLE, HART OF DIXIE and DEXTER (though our DEXTER grade was given before we viewed the season finale). To clarify how we graded each show, we only are grading the most current season of the show (up to the last episode it aired in 2011), and the grade is a reflection of how it held up in comparison to its own previous seasons, not to television in general. As for HART OF DIXIE, it’s just what we think of the first season so far.

Take a look at how we graded these drama series!

I agree with everything you said about castle. This has been a really weird/boring season (I only liked cops and robbers),cuffed was a disappointment , the atlantic city episode was the worst episode so far. I´m missing the spark between the two leads ,I don´t watch this show for ryan and and Esposito ,I watch it for Beckett and castle storyline.

    My grades:

I really disagree with your comments re Castle. “B+” for me. It’s been a fantastic season so far. Different, but still great and highly enjoyable. Castle has always bounced around, and I like the additional screen time that the “secondary” characters have been getting. Hoping to see more Lanie, and Esplanie this season. I think that the relationship “stuff” will ramp up in the second half, just as it did in season 2 and 3. I’m looking forward to it turning out a solid “A” by May.

    Supernatural “B”.

Fringe “B”, although I finding myself impatient for things to get moving, seems awful slow to get going this year. Although, I have to admit, that might be due to the wonky schedule.

Heart of Dixie, don’t watch, maybe I should.

Dexter, “D”, just don’t like this season.

I agree except for Supernatural and Fringe.

Supernatural is recycling ideas over and over, and not the good ones.
I think writers should stop trying to find a big bad.
    Grade D

And regarding Fringe, it is giving us awesome episodes but if we see them in the big picture of the entire season, there is no continuity, especially in the Peter storyline: the way, they explained how Peter came back, does not explain what happened before, such as Peter’s reflection in the mirror, and there is no logical connection either.
    Grade B-

Yea, you’re right about Supernatural. I’m just still enjoying it.

I could not agree more with your opinions of “Hart of Dixie”…I agree with Danielle on getting a new girl for George and I will come and have lemonade on Marisa’s Bluebell porch! 😀

And I have blinders on when it comes to Castle (the Atlantic City episode was bad…was there a story to that because I just remember Fillion dressed as Elvis!) but agree it’s been an up and down season (that will continue to go up and up!) and ended on a disappointing note with “Cuffed”. Oh, and I love Ryan and Esposito and think that “Kicked the Ballistics” deserves a nod for Seamus Dever’s acting alone!
