Fox Moves BONES to Mondays, TOUCH to Thursdays

February 27, 2012 by

Well, I hope you weren’t attached to the last schedule Fox released, because things are changing — BONES is returning to its former Monday night spot and TOUCH will now air Thursdays after AMERICAN IDOL.

In addition, the special 25th ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL has been bumped back a few weeks, THE FINDER is ending its run a little earlier than planned, and there’s a HOUSE special in the works.

Take a look at the press release…

“FOX announces revisions to its Monday and Thursday spring schedule, as well as the air date for FOX’s 25th ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL and the addition of a HOUSE retrospective leading into the show’s momentous series finale.

TOUCH, the distinctive new drama created by Tim Kring (“Heroes”) and starring Kiefer Sutherland (“24”), will world premiere Thursday, March 22 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT), following American Idol results shows (8:00-9:00 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed). Don’t miss an encore of the TOUCH preview episode Thursday, March 15 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT).

On Monday, April 2 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT), Bones moves to a new night and time. In the spring premiere, an expectant Brennan (Emily Deschanel) and Booth (David Boreanaz) are at odds over plans for the upcoming birth of their daughter. Meanwhile, a neighborhood is on edge when remains are found in the sewer, clogging up local plumbing lines.

Also on Monday, April 2, HOUSE moves to a new time (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) with all-new episodes leading up to House’s final diagnosis. A retrospective special looking back at the last eight years of the seminal series will air Monday, May 21 (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT), followed by the thrilling series finale (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT). Additional details regarding the special to be announced soon.

FOX’s 25th ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL is set to air Sunday, April 22 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT). The exciting event will celebrate the shows and the stars of FOX’s 25-year history, from its earliest days as a bold, brazen upstart to its current standing as the No. 1 network among Adults 18-49.

The Finder will have its spring finale Thursday, March 8 (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) and will return later in the season with all-new episodes. Alcatraz continues with all-new episodes Mondays (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) throughout March, with the previously announced special two-hour episode Monday, March 5 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) and the arresting two-hour season finale on Monday, March 26 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT).”

Hoping castle/bones fans are going to watch bones instead, thats a competitive slot for both shows to be on at the same time

The lack of respect Fox has for Bones is so irritating. I understood the shortened season due to Emily Deschanel’s pregnancy, but moving episode 6 at the last minute just to help The Finder back in January was a shady move. Also, since Fox NEVER promotes Bones (their best show, IMO) no one is even going to know to turn in on the 2nd instead of the 5th.

Way to screw things up yet again, Fox.

I’m fine with the moves, and I like Bones at 8 instead of 9, just selfishly because I like watching earlier. I don’t have an opinion about any of the other Fox shows because I haven’t watched any of them.

Fox thinks that they can push Touch more with it’s new lead in American Idol.
This makes absolutly sense to me, but I hate this timeslot changing for Bones every year.
I hope they will really promote it probrly now, that people know it will be back and on a different time.

No Bones/Castle conflict. Bones will be at 8/7c and Castle is at 10/9central. I’m OK with the Bones move except it will mean I am back to racing home to see the beginning. Hoping it’s back to a later time next season.

    Marisa,

How did Bones perform when they were in the Monday at 8PM slot? Also, Nina, Castle is on at 10PM on Mondays isn’t it? I didn’t read anywhere that they were changing that.

@Alanna I disagree. This only shows that Fox has so much faith in Bones that they are moving to another night because know that their ratings will hold up. Also, fans will tune into see Bones. They aired episode 6 on January 12th and that did amazingly well for being in a new timeslot and no lead in. Even if they only get about 8 million viewers and a barely above 2.0 demo, that’s still pretty good. Bones’ ratings have always been very steady when moving to different nights and they have been known not only to keep their existing audience, but build on it as well. Also…Fox does promote Bones. They promoted the crap out of the premiere, so I’m sure they will probably really promote Bones for their “spring premiere” too. Don’t worry. Bones will be fine.

If The Voice, Dancing With The Stars, and HIMYM and Two Broke Girls hold their audiences, I am nt sure how well Bones will do. I am sure the dvr ratings will be good. I would rather have seen it on at 9.

@Shep: It was after the shows came back from the WGA strike…it did decently.

How many episodes of Alcatraz (or should I ask how many hours?) and how many eps of The Finder when all is said and done?

  11. Marisa Roffman on February 28th, 2012 6:04 pm

13 ALCATRAZ. And how many episodes of THE FINDER were filmed or are currently scheduled to air?

  12. Kath (canakatydid) on February 28th, 2012 9:40 pm

I guess currently scheduled to air…though I hope that The Finder gets a complete season…all episides filmed eventually airing and hopefully more seasons to come. Thanks Marisa.

I’m comfy with this. This time Bones will get to help out House by leading the slot for them. I’m sure Bones will do okay, but I do wish it came on at 9/8c. It’ll be an “unofficial” lead-in for Castle lol. Either way, three awesome shows on two different networks! My Mondays are booked! Bones, House, and Castle cool! Lol

  14. Marisa Roffman on February 28th, 2012 10:07 pm

There is one more episode currently scheduled to air (March 8th), and that would bring the total up to 7 aired. 13 were filmed, though….

I don’t think Fox is doing anything for Bones . A novel idea would be to put Bones as a Lead-in for The New Girl !!
