BONES: Stephen Nathan, Jonathan Collier, and Michaela Conlin Tease Booth and Brennan’s Wedding

September 10, 2013 by

Originally, the plan was to keep the “when” of BONES’ Booth/Brennan wedding on the down low, but things change: the producers are now freely admitting the long-awaited marriage will go down in October. Yes, we’re just weeks away from seeing Booth and Brennan become man and wife!

But just because the duo are going to be hitched ASAP, that doesn’t mean things are going to be absolutely smooth on the road to get them there.

“It’s a BONES wedding,” BONES executive producer Stephen Nathan teased. “We wanted to give the people who have been so loyal to us for so many years the wedding that they would want. And as much as we wanted to do that, it’s never that simple on BONES. So while our intention was pure, the outcome is far different than we imagined. But hopefully, no less magical.”

Which means the show is doing all they can behind the scenes to make sure things live up to expectations.

“It’s an exciting, thrilling episode,” executive producer Jonathan Collier shared. “I have to say, one of our best writers ever wrote it — Karine Rosenthal. She came back especially to do this…she’s one of the best writers I’ve ever worked with, and it was the perfect, emotional episode for her to come back and do.”

And to make Booth and Brennan’s special day extra delightful, a bunch of familiar faces will be popping up on-screen as well.

“We essentially have everyone who has ever been in BONES back,” Nathan laughed. “We have Max, we have Hank, we have [Booth’s] mom, we have as many squints as we could fit in a phone booth.”

“We basically spent the budget for the entire year,” Collider joked. But in all seriousness, he noted, “It means as much to us as it does to the fans. It’s a big emotional moment.”

Unfortunately, some of those emotions might not be great — the tension between Booth and Angela (who has her own important role in the big day) won’t be completely resolved by the time the wedding occurs.

“At the wedding [things are said],” Michaela Conlin (Angela) previewed. “They’re taking some digs — both of them.”

BONES’ ninth season kicks off Monday, September 16th at 8 PM on Fox.

So even though Angela knows about Pelant and why Booth did what he did..cos B&B are getting married now..she is still going to be a total bitch to him….that says her problem is more to do with her issues than Booth…Angela is on my shi*list

For crap sake, if Ang ruins Booth’s day for him, I will never forgive her. who made her king of the world? I was hoping I could like her again some day, she been a total bitch for the last year. She needs to get over it, Brennan has Booth now, grow up.

I’m pretty sure that although things might be tense in the build up the Booth Angela thing will be resolved by the end of the episode. I mean they will both upset Brennan if they are at each other’s throats which is something they will both agree they won’t want.

I don’t think she (Angela) will be mad at Booth, but they will say things for each other, the type of thing that can’t be take back, this will not disappear in the wedding day.

Wow, it seems there are a bunch of you who view Booth as some kind of fragile little flower. I have confidence that Booth can stand up for himself, and speak out. It does say: “They’re taking some digs — both of them.” I’ll wait until I actually see it onscreen before I start name calling. Because honestly, right now I have no idea how it’ll actually play out.

People defended Angela’s treatment of Booth in the premier cos she was in the dark of the Pelant situation…she now knows the truth of the situation and she is still going to be a bitch to him…there is no excuse for her behavior now. NONE

I get the feeling that all this is building up to an Angela-Brennan fight…I also think there may be something else going on with Angela that we don’t know yet

You know, I understand the writers having to come up with something now that B & B are finally together and married, but destroying the team is just lame. They are both friends and coworkers, now they are taking sides even after knowing what Booth had to do in order to protect not only Brennan but other innocents. Why? Explain to me why the team didnt fall apart during the other numerous breakups on the show, because the team in their maturity has become childish and Ang is jealous of B&B’s relationship. ugh

What is with the rabid Angela hate? Good lord, wait to see how it all plays out on screen before jumping to conclusions.

Doesn’t this feel like the last season?

  11. DripPan on September 10th, 2013 6:03 pm

    Thanks for this Marisa, again!

I’m happy that HH & company are having the wedding early. With the wedding being in Ep 6, this gives them 16 new episodes to show the fans what it will be like. IMO, some fans may have dropped the series if the wedding took place in a season finale.

Ahh Frankie, the voice of reason. Looks like there has been a hate transplant from Sweets to Angela.

    excited hope get married

  14. Michelle on September 15th, 2013 10:40 pm

Don’t you get it, they are jumping the shark with this episode! This will probably be the last year of Bones if this wedding takes place. DON’T GET MARRIED! We want a season 11 and beyond!

  15. Kayla on September 15th, 2013 11:33 pm

I am glad they didn’t wait to do the wedding as the season finale and that it is pretty early on in the season. Also, their marriage will most likely mean that they will finally get Pelant (I hope so cuz that storyline is getting a bit old). I don’t think they would get married if Pelant was still out there where he could ruin their marriage. As for the Angela thing, I’m going to wait to see what will happen. I don’t think her and Booth will be on a bad note for long. And it would be great if Zach will be there.

  16. amy on September 16th, 2013 8:12 am

I hope this means we get to see Zach. It’s been a long time since he’s made an appearance. As for the Angela hate…really???? A lot of character bashing before it’s even aired?? I also hope to hell that this ends the Pelant story line. It’s the worse story line they’ve had and gone on for way too long!

“Man and wife”? What century are you living in? “Man and possession” is how that sounds. “Husband and wife” is a better way to express the union. Or, You could say, “married couple” or “man and woman” but no one would make the connection. But “man and wife”–I could stop watching just for that comment. Brennan would clobber you!!

  18. Linda P. on September 16th, 2013 4:30 pm

The first thing I thought when I saw that there would be familiar faces returning: “I hope Zach comes back!” I was always worried about him when he was absent for several episodes, then came back with a crew cut. I was afraid he had had chemo.

Why can’t I find Season 9 on my Sky guide? Or is Bones now called “NCIS”? This is teasing gone mad!

Angela pissed me off with her video convo w/ Booth in the Season Premiere, but I am going to hold judgement for future episodes because Angela does love both of them. I do think Angela won’t understand the impact of her words to him and will be guilted into apologizing for her comments but Booth shouldn’t forgive her so easily. She pretty much reduced Brennan to a simple child and Booth to a pig by suggesting he wasn’t interested in Bones anymore because she had a child.

I hear rumors of Angela and Hodgins maybe having tension this season. What if the “discussion” Booth and Angela have is about something Booth saw Angela do or what he thinks she did i.e. maybe an affair, lying to Hodgins….

I do think stuff is going on with Angela that no one knows about and yes I do think subconsciously she may be jealous of B & B. Angela has her art, but she led a different life before Hodgins while Brennan is still herself with Booth and envies that.
