There are approximately one million new shows debuting this season*, and it’s going to get difficult to keep track of them all.

To help you out, for every new show, I’m going to basically create a hub of info on the day of the premiere — pilot photos, my quick take on the pilot (or what I’ve seen so far), what’s been written about it so far, and when you can watch it.

Next up, BACK IN THE GAME…

Comments Off on BACK IN THE GAME: Maggie Lawson and James Caan Talk About Their New Comedy

In the new ABC comedy, BACK IN THE GAME, Maggie Lawson’s Terry Jr. and James Caan’s Terry are tasked with trying to coach, well, a pretty terrible youth baseball team. (But, hey, at least the kids are trying.)

Last week, Lawson and Caan spoke with reporters on set about their new comedy…

LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT Season 15 Premiere: ‘Surrender Benson’ Teases

September 25, 2013 by
Filed under Law & Order, SVU

It’s always a tricky thing when a lead character is placed in serious (arguably grave) danger on television. Realistically, the danger is rarely as serious as the character thinks it is, because television viewers know that the actor/actress is signed on for more of the show.

So, I was very curious how LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT would play out their summer-long “Save Benson” (or #SaveBenson if you’re on Twitter) hiatus tease. At the end of last season, the perp of the week, Lewis, ambushed Olivia in her apartment. Logic dictated Olivia would survive whatever he put her through, but the question was how bad it would be. The promos and photos were absolutely terrifying; it would be bad to see any character like that, but Olivia Benson is someone SVU viewers have spent 14 seasons with. No matter what, it wouldn’t be pretty.

I don’t want to ruin the episode, but there are a few things I’d like to say about the hour before it airs (it’s the first part of a two-hour SVU block tonight on NBC), and then we can talk more specifics in tomorrow’s About Last Night, okay?

‘We Have Thoughts’ Vodcast: Danielle and Marisa talk DEXTER’s Series Finale

So. DEXTER had its series finale over the weekend.

It…was not the best. In fact, before my vodcast partner Danielle Turchiano (from Made Possible By Pop Culture) and I shot our thoughts on the finale, I warned her that I had a lot of things to say, which meant this was probably going to go super long.

Um, I was not incorrect.

As you can see from the videos below, we talked a lot…

Terry Gannon Jr. was an All-Star softball player until life threw her a couple of curve balls — a baby, a lost college scholarship and a cheating loser for a husband. After striking out on her own, Terry and her son, Danny, move back in with her estranged father, Terry Sr., aka “The Cannon.” As hard as Terry tries to keep Danny away from the sports-driven lifestyle that corrupted her youth, Danny continues to be interested in baseball, so when Danny and a group of other athletically-challenged hopefuls fail to make the local youth baseball team, Terry reluctantly offers to coach the team of misfits.

Fox Gives Series Commitment to GOTHAM

Comments Off on Fox Gives Series Commitment to GOTHAM

The new television season has barely started and Fox has already made its second series commitment for projects that won’t bow until at least 2014. While the first series was a Tina Fey-produced comedy, this time around, a Fox rep has confirmed the network has ordered GOTHAM, a show that will be set in the DC Comics/Batman universe.

And while many superhero television shows focus on origin stories of the central figures (ARROW, SMALLVILLE, the upcoming potential FLASH spinoff), this one is aiming to be different: GOTHAM will follow the origin story of Commissioner James Gordon and the criminals who “made Gotham famous.” The show comes from THE MENTALIST creator Bruno Heller.

Deadline was first to break the news.
