“This May, FOX presents massive television events, series premieres and season finales, as well as all-new episodes with big guest stars, including the two-hour premiere of the highly-anticipated new event series 24: LIVE ANOTHER DAY May 5; the series premiere of new unscripted comedy RIOT May 13; the fifth season premiere of culinary sensation MASTERCHEF May 19; the three-hour, two-night season finale of AMERICAN IDOL XIII, featuring the final performance show May 20 and the final live results show crowning the next music superstar May 21.

Retaining the real-time, nail-biting, fast-paced format with split screens and interweaving storylines, the highly-anticipated series also stars Mary Lynn Rajskub, Kim Raver and William Devane reprising their original roles. In the Season Nine finale, directed by series star David Boreanaz, the team investigates the death of a man who had offered Booth (Boreanaz) information on a possible government cover-up related to a previous case, but was killed before their meeting took place. As Booth and the Jeffersonian team dig deeper into the burgeoning conspiracy surrounding the man’s death, it’s evident Booth may be in over his head, and his future with the FBI is put in question.

 

24: LIVE ANOTHER DAY (9:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) – “1:00 PM-2:00 PM” – Time Period Premiere

Kate Morgan (Yvonne Strahovski) continues her hunt for Jack, as President Heller (William Devane) prepares to address Parliament after a devastating attack. Margot Al-Harazi (guest star Michelle Fairley) proves she is willing to sacrifice anything for revenge.

 

Monday, May 19

MASTERCHEF (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) – “Top 30 Compete” – Season Premiere

MASTERCHEF returns for an exciting fifth season, giving talented home cooks from all walks of life the chance to showcase their skills, knowledge and passion in front of the show’s esteemed judging panel: Gordon Ramsay, Joe Bastianich and Graham Elliot. In the premiere episode, after a nationwide search, 30 of the best home cooks in America present their signature dish to the judges, but only the Top Finalists will earn a coveted white apron and compete for a chance to win the MASTERCHEF title, a cookbook deal and the $250,000 grand prize.

In an episode written by series star Chris Colfer, Rachel attempts to salvage her reputation among Broadway gossipers, by hiring Santana as her publicist and creating a charity for rescue animals. Meanwhile, Kurt (Colfer) nabs the lead role in a retirement home production of “Peter Pan.”

 

NEW GIRL (9:00-9:30 PM ET/PT) – “Cruise” – Season Finale

In the Season Three finale, Jess and Nick (Jake Johnson) invite the gang along with them on a cruise they booked while still together as a couple. Kerri Kenney (“Reno 911”) and Oscar Nunez (“The Office”) guest-star.

The remaining contestants must create a unique pizza dish to present to Chef Ramsay and VIP guest judge Chef Wolfgang Puck. The judges will determine which team will go on a relaxing day trip to a luxurious hotel and which team will stay behind to clean up and prepare for dinner service. Later, pressure mounts during Family Night dinner service, as the contestants must impress not only the regulars, but Chef Ramsay’s family, as well.

 

AMERICAN IDOL XIII (9:00-9:30 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) – “1 of 6 Voted Off”

As the countdown to the Grand Finale begins, another finalist is eliminated from the competition.

 

SURVIVING JACK (9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT) – “Something To Talk About”

Frankie (Connor Buckley) has poor timing when he introduces Heather (guest star Lili Reinhart) to Joanne (Rachael Harris), who is on pain medication, post-surgery. Meanwhile, George (Kevin Hernandez) and Mikey (Tyler Foden) try to retrieve a porn video they disguised in a “Casablanca” VHS case at the Dunlevy house.

HELL’S KITCHEN (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) – “13Chefs Compete”

Chef Ramsay announces that HELL’S KITCHEN will be hosting a 160th anniversary party for the Phi Mu sorority, so the Red and Blue teams are tasked to prepare a southern-inspired menu for the sorority’s social committee. The team with the most impressive dishes earns an elaborate trip to Las Vegas, while the losing team stays behind to transform the restaurant for the party. Later, Chef Ramsay puts the pressure on the chefs to execute a flawless dinner service, but each of the teams struggles to communicate with each other, delaying the dinner service.

 

AMERICAN IDOL XIII (9:00-9:30 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) – “1 of 5 Voted Off”

In another nail-biting LIVE results show, the finalist who receives the fewest votes will be eliminated from the race for the title.

 

SURVIVING JACK (9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT) – “She Drives Me Crazy”

In an effort to have Rachel (Claudia Lee) more engaged in school and take her future seriously, Jack (Christopher Meloni) gets her a spot on the wrestling team, much to the chagrin of the wrestling coach (guest star Neil Flynn, “The Middle”). Also, Joanne realizes that Frankie is now too embarrassed to be seen with her during their annual mother-son trip.

 

Thursday, May 8

HELL’S KITCHEN (8:00-9:00 PM ET/PT) – “12 Chefs Compete”

In the ultimate adaptability challenge, the remaining contestants are given 30 minutes to shine and create entrées made up of the surprise ingredients hidden under four domes. Chef Ramsay and VIP guest judge Chef Michael Cimarusti will determine which team will go down the coast for a scenic lunch and volleyball lesson with Kerri Walsh Jennings and which team will stay behind to do all the chores for the servers at HELL’S KITCHEN. Later, tensions rise as Chef Ramsay announces it is time for one-on-one performance evaluations, and then he decides to do something never done before in the history of HELL’S KITCHEN.

 

AMERICAN IDOL XIII (9:00-9:30 PM ET live/PT tape-delayed) – “1 of 4 Voted Off”

The tension mounts, as another finalist is sent home in an all-new LIVE results show.

 

SURVIVING JACK (9:30-10:00 PM ET/PT) – “Parents Just Don’t Understand”—Season Finale

Jack and Joanne are at odds with each other when both kids betray their trust – Frankie has his first taste of alcohol at a varsity baseball party, and Rachel wants to go on birth control.

In the continuation of an emotional elimination round, Chef Ramsay takes the remaining contestants on a surprise field trip to a local gastropub. While one team rules the kitchen, the other struggles with communication, resulting in yet another dramatic elimination.

KITCHEN NIGHTMARES (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) – “Zayna Flaming Grill, Part 1/Zayna Flaming Grill, Part 2”

Chef Ramsay travels to Redondo Beach, CA, to visit Zayna Flaming Grill, a Mediterranean restaurant owned and operated by aunt-and-niece duo Faye and Brenda. Faye believes she has the weight of the entire restaurant on her shoulders, while Brenda does not feel she is treated as an equal in the partnership. With tensions rising, the food not up to standards and everyone playing the blame game, Chef Ramsay is faced with one of the stickiest situations he’s ever encountered.

BOB’S BURGERS (7:00-7:30 PM ET/PT) – “World Wharf II: The Wharfening” (or How Bob Saves/Destroys the Town – Part II) – Season Finale

It’s Linda and the kids to the rescue when Felix (guest voice Galifianakis) takes desperate measures, and puts Bob and Mr. Fischoeder in danger. Gary Cole (“Veep”), Jordan Peele (“Key and Peele”), Paul F. Tompkins (“Comedy Bang! Bang!”) and Jenny Slate guest-voice.

 

AMERICAN DAD (7:30-8:00 PM ET/PT) – “The Longest Distance Relationship” – Season Finale

Hayley, still heartbroken over Jeff’s (guest star Jeff Fischer) abduction, meets millionaire Matt Davis (Dee Bradley Baker), who begins to help her move forward, until Steve and Snot (guest voice Curtis Armstrong) discover that Jeff’s alive and trying to make it back to her. Comedian Sinbad guest-voices as himself.

 

THE SIMPSONS (8:00-8:30 PM ET/PT) – “The Yellow Badge of Cowardge” – Season Finale

Bart is plagued with guilt when he wins the annual “last day of school” race around Springfield Elementary, with an assist from Nelson (Nancy Cartwright), who beats up frontrunner Milhouse (guest voice Pamela Hayden). Meanwhile, Homer tries to bring back the annual 4th of July fireworks display after it’s canceled for budget reasons. Glenn Close returns as Mona Simpson and Olympian Edwin Moses guest-voices as himself.

 

FAMILY GUY (8:30-9:00 PM ET/PT) – “Chap Stewie” – Season Finale

When Peter and Chris interrupt Stewie’s (Seth MacFarlane) TV time, the angry baby goes back in time to break up Peter and Lois so he’s never conceived, but is shocked when he is reborn into a “Downton Abbey”-esque British household.

 

COSMOS: A SPACETIME ODYSSEY (9:00-10:00PM ET/PT) – “The Immortals”

The Ship of the Imagination travels across the cosmos to discover the possibility of some beings that live forever and explain why other civilizations perish. Then, visit the Cosmic Calendar of the Future and contemplate what lies ahead with a hopeful vision. ”
