2018 Primetime Emmys Features an On-Stage Proposal

The most shocking—and genuine—moment of the 70th Primetime Emmy telecast came from someone representing another award show.

Glenn Weiss scored an Emmy for directing the 2018 Oscars telecast, and when he took the stage, he acknowledged it was bittersweet, since his beloved mother had just passed. But, he noted, she also loved his girlfriend…and Weiss proposed to his girlfriend (who was sitting in the audience) with his mother’s ring.
