CHICAGO P.D.: Patrick John Flueger and Marina Squerciati on Ruzek’s Return to the Team

CHICAGO P.D.’s Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) finally had the charges cleared against him—which also paved the way for him to return to Intelligence.
“I think it’s probably saved his life,” CHICAGO P.D. boss Rick Eid admits. “He’s not somebody that’s meant to be without his badge. He needs to be working and be around his friends and partners to stay on the right side of things.”
The near-miss will give Ruzek a new perspective on things. “Anytime you see something slipping through your fingers, it makes you realize how much you love it,” Flueger told reporters in the video below. “What he says to Voight in the last episode—’It’s who I am. It’s all I have.’—I think that nothing truer has ever been said by that guy. And it’s not just the job, it’s the people…I think he’s kind of obsessed with these people. And he’s kind of obsessed with this job. It’s just been strengthened by having it almost get taken from him.”
