ARROW, FBI, and FBI: MOST WANTED

“Caesar” – Barnes goes on a dangerous undercover mission involving an ambitious gang leader who is plotting turf wars and massacres across the Bronx in a bid for more power, on FBI: MOST WANTED, Tuesday, Jan. 28 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. Let’s talk about Tuesday night’s TV!

ARROW: I’m glad the network did the one-hour retrospective; it’s incredible how many people cycled through the show and how much it changed over the years.

As for the episode itself, I thought the writers handled things really well. The flashback focusing on Diggle and Oliver, which really ended up being the core partnership of the series, was lovely. (And Diggle doing the Salmon Ladder made me laugh out loud.) I don’t mind Tommy, Moira, etc., being revived, but do wish it hadn’t been positioned as his father being the only death that really changed him. Was it the one that started everything? Abso-freaking-lutely. But the loss of Tommy and Moira broke Oliver in different ways, too, and he was forced to rebuild in the aftermath.

That being said, the season ended up being my favorite since season 2. The short episode count and the clear endpoint led to a really strong batch of episodes. (And here’s what star Stephen Amell and EP Marc Guggenheim said about the final scene of the series last year.)

FBI: Oh, Jubal. He’s truly lucky things didn’t go worse.

FBI: MOST WANTED: I really enjoyed learning more about Barnes’ past, and I’m looking forward to seeing how the show explores how the undercover work has shaped her (and the relationship she has with her wife and daughter now). Having to lose yourself in a work identity, especially when you don’t have the tethers of a home life, must be incredibly difficult.
