AMERICA’S GOT TALENT: Kelly Clarkson to Fill in for Simon Cowell

With Simon Cowell recovering from his broken back, Kelly Clarkson (whom Cowell helped discover on AMERICAN IDOL) will step in for the AMERICA’S GOT TALENT’s live shows on August 11 and 12.

“My friend, Simon Cowell, is doing better now but was in an accident and won’t be able to make Tuesday and Wednesday’s live shows for AGT, but no worries America, someone far wiser, cooler, and hotter is taking his seat! The unbelievably amazing Kelly Clarkson 😜 You’re welcome in advance!” Clarkson joked in a statement.

Clarkson is a vet to competition shows at this point, having won IDOL’s first season, a one-season gig on DUETS, and spending the past few seasons on THE VOICE (with a few victories under her belt). Clarkson also has the Emmy-winning THE KELLY CLARKSON SHOW running new episodes this summer.
