Christopher Meloni Shares First Photos of Elliot Stabler’s SVU Return

December 8, 2020 by

Christopher Meloni is one step closer to re-entering the LAW & ORDER universe.

With LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT currently in production on the hour that will lead into the LAW & ORDER: ORGANIZED CRIME spinoff, Meloni is back filming SVU, reprising his role of Elliot Stabler for the first time in nearly a decade.

News of the latest LAW & ORDER spinoff first leaked in March, with its official order coming in June. Originally, ORGANIZED CRIME was supposed to launch in the fall—with Meloni set to return as Elliot in SVU’s season 22 premiere—but when the show got pushed, his reappearance was also delayed. (Meloni did reunite, off-screen, with his once-and-future co-star, Mariska Hargitay, over the summer.)

SVU showrunner Warren Leight shared the first rehearsal (via Zoom) photo of the episode that would mark Meloni’s reunion with the franchise. And with the episode now underway, Meloni shared a couple of photos, first of Stabler’s USMC tattoo with the caption “#firstdayofschool,” and then a behind-the-scenes photo with his real-life daughter, Sophia.
