Couch Madness: ‘Burned’

Couch Madness Burned

In honor of the NCAA tournament season, Give Me My Remote is bringing back our TV-centric bracket, pitting similarly titled episodes against each other: Couch Madness! (Credit for the excellent name goes fellow reporter Chris Hayner.)

The seeding is simple: rather than quality of the hour, we’re going by air date (with the oldest episode getting the #1 slot and the newest getting #8). With Peak TV, this will not include every single show that has used this title; rather, we picked a selection from what was available.

The first round will run from Monday, March 13 through Friday, March 17. Round two will kick off on Monday, March 20, with the final face-off starting Monday, March 27.

First up? “Burned.” Keep reading for the bracket, episode descriptions (from IMDB), and the poll. (For the other episodes competing, check out all the brackets here!)

MELROSE PLACE (1): “Billy gets robbed by some black hoods while driving his taxi around downtown Los Angeles one night. When the police don’t take an interest in his case, he investigates himself to find the muggers, much to the worry of Alison, while racist comments from him make Rhonda angry and she has to teach him some lessons about black people in America. On Jake’s birthday, he is visited by his long estranged mother Stella Rivers, who annoys him greatly. Meanwhile, Jane and Michael attend a boring Lamaze class.”

vs.

CSI: VEGAS (8): “A mysterious big foot-like footprint found near a crime scene puzzles the CSI team as they work to uncover who or what killed a father and son.”

LAW & ORDER (2): “A teenage boy is suspected of starting a fire that killed his younger sister. But his powerful and influential grandfather does everything in his power to make the case go away.”

vs.

JUSTIFIED (7): “With Ava burned as an informant, Raylan turns to the informant who got Katherine Hale’s husband killed to bring down Boyd, who suddenly gets an unexpected ally in the fight against Avery Markham.”

LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT (3): “Elliot thinks a possible rape victim is lying to enhance her divorce settlement. But Olivia thinks it’s a sign of her husband’s escalating violence, and believes that Stabler’s judgment is clouded because of his divorce.”

vs.

ARROW (6): “Oliver’s confidence is shaken after being beaten by the Dark Archer and he takes a break from being Arrow. However, when Laurel calls Arrow for help investigating a firefighter’s suspicious death, he reluctantly agrees but his hesitance while fighting almost costs him his life. Meanwhile, Tommy throws a benefit for the firefighters and Thea tries to lift Moira out of her depressive state.”

CSI: MIAMI (4): “While investigating a possible arson case, Horatio discovers that Yelina is back in Miami working as a private investigator. Meanwhile, Wolfe’s prior relationship with one of the suspects gets him in hot water with his superiors.”

vs.

NCIS: LOS ANGELES (5): “While undercover G realizes that someone tails him, G chases him and watches while the tail dies; G becomes a ghost; two weird phone calls lead to major confrontations with Bulgarians and computer problems. G and the team walk away safely.”
