THE WALKING DEAD: DARYL DIXON: Melissa McBride Joins as a Series Regular

Melissa McBride has officially joined THE WALKING DEAD: DARYL DIXON as a series regular for season 2, AMC announced at New York Comic Con. McBride played Carol on THE WALKING DEAD for 11 seasons and AMC is calling the sophomore season THE WALKING DEAD: DARYL DIXON—THE BOOK OF CAROL.

“I’ve known there was much more to be told of Carol’s story as I felt her so unsettled when we last saw her, as she watched her best friend, Daryl, ride away,” McBride said in a statement. “Apart or (hopefully!) together, their stories run deep, and I’m so excited to continue Carol’s journey here. This team of storytellers have done amazing work to land these two established characters in an entirely new world to them, and I’m loving the discoveries!”

The sophomore season, which is in production right now in France and set to debut in 2024, stars Norman Reedus, McBride, Clémence Poésy, Louis Puech Scigliuzzi, Laika Blanc Francard, Anne Charrier, Romain Levi, and Eriq Ebouaney. David Zabel serves as showrunner.

In season 1 of DARYL DIXON, “Daryl (Reedus) washes ashore in France and struggles to piece together how he got there and why. The series tracks his journey across a broken but resilient France as he hopes to find a way back home. As he makes the journey, though, the connections he forms along the way complicate his ultimate plan.” Originally, McBride and Reedus were supposed to co-lead a spinoff, before she exited the series during the development process.
