Couch Madness: ‘Ashes to Ashes’ (Group 1)

Couch Madness Ashes to Ashes Group 1

In honor of the NCAA tournament season, Give Me My Remote is bringing back our TV-centric bracket, pitting similarly titled episodes against each other: Couch Madness! (Credit for the excellent name goes to fellow reporter Chris Hayner.)

The seeding is simple: rather than quality of the hour, we’re going by air date (with the oldest episode getting the #1 slot and the newest getting #8). With Peak TV, this will not include every single show that has used this title; rather, we picked a selection from what was available.

The first round will run from Monday, March 11 through Friday, March 15. Round two will kick off on Monday, March 18, with the final face-off starting on Monday, March 25.

Next up? “Ashes to Ashes.” And with this title we’re doing something different: There are enough shows for two separate brackets. So keep reading for the first bracket, episode descriptions (from IMDB), and the poll. (For the other episodes competing, check out all the brackets here!)

QUINCY M.E. (1): “A young woman dies in a bar, apparently of a heart attack. After the autopsy Quincy is sure that something is not quite as it seems and soon discovers some unsettling facts about her husband.”

vs.

DROP DEAD DIVA (8): “Jane and Grayson represent a woman who is suing for custody of her late fiancé’s ashes. And just as Jane starts to accept his disappearance, Owen suddenly returns.”

FALCON CREST (2): “The Channings and Giobertis prepare to depart for Italy to scatter Julia’s ashes, a trip that takes a perilous turn when the cartel tampers with the plane.”

vs.

REAPER (7): “Ben’s mother and grandmother stop by the Work Bench for some supplies for their family reunion. However, things go sour when his grandmother accuses Sam of being evil and calls him Diablo, the Spanish word for devil. Meanwhile, Sam meets a mysterious woman named Mimi, who claims to have been the Devil’s girlfriend for over 20 years, and he wonders whether her daughter is the Devil’s daughter or not.”

BEVERLY HILLS, 90210 (3): “Brandon befriends a black family, the Ashes, which stirs up Beverly Hills when they move in near the Walshes. The siblings include Robby, a freshman photographer who volunteers to work at the Blaze, and his older sister whose boyfriend is roughed up by a racist security patrol. Meanwhile, Jim and Cindy try out a new “state of the art” house alarm system which is more of a nuisance than a help.”

vs.

DEAD LIKE ME (6): “George tries to pass herself off as the relative of a homeless man, while Daisy performs as a temptress on Ray’s reality show – much to Mason’s disgust. Reggie, meanwhile, tries Goth on for size.”

STAR TREK: VOYAGER (4): “Voyager receives a former crewman, deceased, resurrected, genetically altered, unrecognizable, and glad to be “home.” Meanwhile, looking after the Borg children exasperates Seven of Nine.”

vs.

CSI: MIAMI (5): “A priest, Father Carlos, is found dead in his private office with gunshot wounds in his back.”
