Watch Along with GMMR...FIREFLY - Give Me My Remote : Give Me My Remote

Watch Along with GMMR…FIREFLY

January 8, 2010 by

UPDATE: Don’t forget we are starting ‘Watch Along with GMMR…Firefly’ starting on Monday. We’ll be talking about episode #1 on Tuesday. Do you have your copy yet?

The votes are in and the first ‘Watch Along with GMMR‘ show of 2010 has been chosen. In a tough battle between Freaks & Geeks and Firefly, the Browncoats were victorious. So starting next week I’ll be watching one new episode of Firefly each night and sharing my thoughts on it the next day.

Since the column is called ‘Watch Along with GMMR’, the whole idea is that YOU too will be watching Firefly with me and joining in on the discussion. I mean, it’s not really fun to watch by myself no matter how much Nathan Fillion is on my screen. Drop me a line if you’re going to watching Firefly with me starting Monday, January 11th. Come on, it’s one season – 13 episodes. You can do it!

Do you have Firefly: The Complete Series on DVD yet? If not, make sure you head out and get it before next Monday. If you’re thinking about ordering it online, the cheapest I’ve found it was at Barnes & Noble (~$26.00). And while you’re at it, you might want to consider buying Serenity, the theatrical movie based on the show.

I’m super excited…are YOU? I was first introduced to the Whedonverse through Project Buffy in 2008. Before Project Buffy I was most familiar with Joss Whedon’s work as the car rental agent on Veronica Mars and as the director of an episode of The Office. But now I get it. The man has a way of telling a good tale, and I just know that I’m going to love Firefly.

Oh and don’t worry Freaks & Geeks fans, you too have been heard. F&G will be the next ‘Watch Along with GMMR’ show! I pinky swear.

Ok so who is with me…

For Firefly, I will find the time to watch with you. It is difficult to fit in with all my other shows, work, kids, homework help for the kids, etc. However, I can’t miss it. I love the show but have only watched it once all the way though. I can’t wait to check it out again.

To anyone else, yes, you also need to watch the Serenity movie after the Firefly show. You will want to see more, and the movie is great.

I’m in! I’ve been looking for a reason to finally watch Firefly. I love me some Fillion. I’ll be a little off schedule because I’m going the NetFlix route (3-4 eps per disc), but I’ll do my best to keep up. Thanks for doing this!

Woo! I’m in. I’ve seen it a bunch of times but I’m always looking for an excuse to watch it again. You won’t be disappointed.

Yeah!!! I love them both, but only currently own Firefly and Serenity, so I’m happy that’s number one in your queue. I’m out of town until the middle of next week, so hopefully I’ll be able to join in the party mid-week.

You may not even need to buy it! Firefly is available on hulu. 🙂

  14. Billiam on January 6th, 2010 1:11 am

Firefly is on Hulu, but they only post 5 episodes at a time for some reason, with a new one added (and the oldest one removed) every Monday. Right now they have the last 5 episodes, so they should add the pilot (but probably only the first half of it) on Monday.
TheWB also has 5 eps at a time, but replaces 3 each week.

Shiny! My wife and I had already started watching it (again!) before you decided to do this. We’ve just finished The Train job episode, so we’ll catch up with you Thursday!

If I’m over my CHUCK over dose by then, that is…

LOVE LOVE LOVE Firefly and Serenity! Watched it when it was on originally, was heartbroken when it got cancelled, and bought my copies of the show and the movie as soon as I found them. They are personal favorites and since my family is big into movies that is saying something!

  21. Jessica S on January 10th, 2010 12:26 pm

I’m in! Firefly is in my top 10 favorite shows of all time. A near perfect season of television-just imagine what Joss & Co. could’ve done with all that potential in later seasons!
