BONES Season 6 Premiere: You Ask, I Answer

September 2, 2010 by

What happens when I get multiple messages telling me the BONES season premiere is available for me to watch and that I should probably check it out ASAP?

Well, let’s just say I probably scared half of the city of Beverly Hills trying to find a way to view the episode and write up a post for you guys.

You had a million questions about the hour, so take a look at some of the answers you wanted…

[H]ow many boxes of tissues will be needed for the #Bones premiere?- @Bonesfan47
I didn’t shed a tear. I’d imagine that’s a good thing, right?

Are they “light hearted” …fun? Maybe not case wise, but in general..what’s the tone?- @yvettelgh
The team is trying to figure out the identity of a dead child, so the case tone is absolutely not light. However, the team is extremely happy to be reunited after their time apart. There are some sad moments, there are some adorable moments, there are some laugh-out-loud moments and there was at least one moment that hurt my heart.

Does the epi start with B&B meeting up or is that later on in the episode?- @DJ248
No, the B-B meeting isn’t how the episode starts. In fact, you guys have already seen a version of how the episode starts…

Is there still hope for Booth & Brennan despite Hannah?? we know that yes but, there are many changes in their relationship? – @Dra_Escapula
I don’t care how serious Booth gets with Hannah, there will ALWAYS be hope for Booth and Brennan. But yes, I think it would be safe to say there is a shift in their dynamic after their time apart.

[I]s the word “baby” said at anytime during the #bones premiere?- @BandBbecome3
Yes, but I’m not sure which context you were hoping for. But the word was mentioned at least once in the premiere.

Has Daisy been written out of #Bones this season? – @meek_the_geek
Nope, she’s definitely in the season premiere. We see her in Maluku with Brennan and then back in D.C. dealing with her possible-fiance, Sweets.

I want to know is Booth honest with Brennan when she asks if he met anyone special? – @bonesjonsing
I don’t feel comfortable spoiling that particular thing, but I will say that scene did not turn out the way I had anticipated it would. Also, I can say is the scene you saw in the promo is an edited version of what actually goes down.

A few fun tidbits that didn’t fit with any questions

– Booth is wearing his “cocky” belt. I know several of you were worried he wouldn’t be, but I definitely spotted it.

– Sweets needs to shave.

– There were at least two significant things in the promos that are NOT in the season premiere.

– There is a very good reason for those white lab coats you’ve seen in the season premiere photos.

You guys sent in more questions than I could answer, so I’m sorry I couldn’t answer them all.

However, if you still have some Qs after this YAIA, let me know in the comments and I’ll see what I can do about writing up a part 2.

And don’t forget, GMMR’s own Sarah (@SarahinPrint) will once again be providing BONES reviews after every episode. We are so excited to have such an active BONES community here on GIVE ME MY REMOTE. We can’t wait until the season starts!

    This review does everything:

    Excites the fans without spoiling
    Heightens anticipation for the episode
    Makes reference to DB’s crotch.

Three things I look for in respectable journalism. Approved. 🙂

I’m guessing no Hannah, or the coffee cart reunion in the premiere, am I right?

  3. Poetic_line on September 2nd, 2010 8:33 pm

Thanks so much for this info. I can never come up with great questions like these people did.

I never think about DB’s crotch. I was entranced with his navel last year though.

I am excited and very nervous and do want to be surprised.

You have relieved my mind and I thank you.

Thanks for a great article, you lucky duck! My questions are if you feel you can answer without spoiling too much: are the Booth hero worshippers going to give up their religion after this ep (since we are so used to chivalrous Booth); was it on par with what I thought was a fabulous and moving season 5 premier; was it true we got to see Parker; and what were your thoughts on the “blurt” that Hart alluded to one character saying? Overall, will the “significant other” naysayers fee safe in returning to Bones? Overall impression about the ep? We trust you Marisa!!!

I’ve watched the promos, read the spoilers for season 6 premiere surf the net and there has been nothing to make me want to watch Bones this season. Is this what tptb intend for viewers to not have anything to look forward to so we want be disappointed?
Can you at least tell us if Cam will have a relationship this season and will Max and Michelle be back this season?

  6. idkwtm on September 2nd, 2010 8:54 pm

Shep has me literally LOL, which scared my poor kitties! I’m relieved that “cocky” is back. First Q: Can you tell us if the white lab coats are permanent or will they soon go back to the blue ones? Second Q: Do you like seeing the show before it airs?
Thanks again for putting my mind at ease. Well, a little bit anyway. Not looking forward to any heart-hurting moments.

If Daisy is working for Bones now, does that mean Mr. Neigel Murry is no more?? if so: SOBSOBSOBSOBSOB

Even with this, I am still anxiously awaiting the premiere. I can’t wait…at least I won’t need tissues this time around.

  11. Jac on September 2nd, 2010 11:53 pm

Please tell us one more thing. I just need to know . . . Are there any longing looks from Booth at Brennan? Or did they take those away, too?

  12. Linda on September 3rd, 2010 12:00 am

    Marisa,
This may sound like a dumb question, but did you feel like the “Chemistry” was there between B&B? I haven’t been feeling it since the 100th. But maybe it is just me…. And thanks for your wonderful info on Bones.

  13. Drippan on September 3rd, 2010 7:48 am

    Marissa,

Your enthusiasm about the series has always been high. This review appears to be pretty flat from what you normally write up.

Do you consider this ‘must watch’ TV?

  14. Lola on September 3rd, 2010 12:10 pm

Marisa – thank you…….you’re encouragement is always welcome.

But what about a gun shy/die hard shipper? How do you think we’ll feel? We’ve been strung along and had many a chain pulled over the years……now an SO.

How will we read Booth? what sort of vibe – is he really trying to leave Brennan behind him? Is he/SO cringe-worthy? I know you can’t say much…..but after 100 things were awkward and uneasy. Are we still there? I can’t imagine it could be different with an SO.

Brennan – anything bubbling yet? any clue she’s thinking differently? She got awfully robotic after 100.

Or should die-hards like myself just hide until the other woman is gone???

  15. jane on September 3rd, 2010 12:13 pm

yes it is much watch tv/everyone says we want be disappointed.

  16. Anja on September 3rd, 2010 3:21 pm

I am a very limited fan: I watch for the B&B ship. Watching Booth and his new lady is really torture to me. So no thanks. Plus on thursday night there is so much else to watch.
And now I go back to mourn the loss of my favourite show.
Maybe I’ll find the courage to give a look at it later, when Hannah is gone. Maybe. Sigh..

  17. Chetta on September 4th, 2010 11:24 am

I’m a diehard fan! Cannot wait. My worst fear is that the them getting together will be the beginning of the end. I think they have enough of ensemble that can keep it going. Love Bones, Love House.

  18. jane on September 4th, 2010 3:58 pm

they are going to be a distance between them booth looks liked hes hurt.

  19. MinnKim on September 4th, 2010 11:49 pm

    Marisa,

I am not excited for Bones season six. All the promo’s coming from Fox aren’t getting me excited. They are exceedingly dark and depressing. I’ve seen them and they give the feeling like what we see is all we’re going to get, no surprises or good stories. It seems to me like HH, SN and their gang have shot themselves in the foot with this storyline and are having a hard time standing. There is so much negativity surrounding this season I wonder if they’ll be able to get the audience excited about this show anymore. The problem I have with the whole S.O. plotline is that it moves Booth away from the character he has been written as being so far. We the audience have seen this stoic Booth who has been waiting for Brennan to catch up. After the 100th episode he gives her a 40 second speech and gives up on her without a fight. This is not the Booth I’ve been watching all this time! The B&B UST is so lacking that once this S.O. crappy Hannah storyline is over there is no more chemistry between B&B to fall back on. The end of season 5 was poorly written and I believe season six will be the same. The premiere is going to be average and viewers will drop if there is no obvious direction in the first three episodes. I am personally going to watch the premiere and then I’m tuning out and watching something else until this arc is over. It doesn’t interest me and I find that it has made me disenchanted with the whole B&B saga. Angela and Hodgin’s relationship has become dull and boring. There season 5 story was so poorly written I can’t even describe all that was wrong with it. The rest of the cast are not really that interesting anymore.

Other than B&B relationship there is nothing to keep me tuning in each week. The show needs some new direction and some new and unique storylines. Personally I hope the viewing numbers do drop so that Fox lights some fires under the showrunners to improve their writing. They seem to be coasting by on recycled concepts and poorly thought out plots. I read an interview that Stephen Nathan gave where he said they have no concrete plan they are just basicly writing organicly week to week and letting the characters write their story. Well Stephen, it shows! Showrunners, please come up with a good story and tell it. I have not seen that they are capable of doing this lately. See season’s four and five.

What are your thoughts Marisa? I know you are sometimes privy to more info than us viewers, but really how long is this going to last? Is this arc lasting all season? If so I’d like to know sooner than later so I can just give up now. A show should not be this depressing to watch. I used to love watching it each week and look forward to seeing what was unfolding each episode. Now I just want it to end so I can go on to another show that will make me excited again. Bones is not my happy show anymore and this makes me so sad.

to my way of thinking quit being so negative its a tv show /the key to booth new girlfriend is he didnt know she was coming.just sat back and watch how he gets out of the hole he dug for hisself /should be really good.
