TV News from the World Wide Web

Here’s a little round-up of some TV-related stories making their way around this thing we call the internet (I really think it’s going to catch on).

The Emmys like their traditions (and no I’m not not talking about overlooking Lauren Graham). Fox’s plans to change the red carpet to green (in an attempt to show their eco-friendly ways) was swatted down by Emmy officials who worried that a green carpet might be reminiscent of the carpet The CW uses for its big events. And since The Emmys don’t like to acknowledge The CW exists….(TV Week)

Brian Grazer is working on a new show about the FBI, tentatively titled THE FBI, with the help of the real FBI. The show follows an Iraq War veteran who leads an FBI unit called the Citizens Incidents Response Group. Grazer and team will have unprecedented access to the FBI as they show how the bureau has changed since 9/11. Right, because that’s what we need the FBI doing…working on a TV show. Good to know my tax dollars are being put to good use. You think if the FBI was going to help anyone it would be Jack Bauer – look at all he’s done for this country. (The Hollywood Reporter)

Yesterday we got news that Mandy Moore will be a guest star on HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER. And today we learn that Enrique Iglesias will also show up to hang with Ted and the gang. Well more specifically, Robin. Iglesias will play Gael, a vacation fling that Robin tries to bring back to real life. (Ausiello)

Fans of JERICHO unite! Oh wait, you already did that. Well then at least come together for the first even JERICHO fan convention. The “nutty” viewers will be descending on Oakley, KS from Sept. 14-16th for what they are calling “Jerichon”. If you are interested in learning more, click here.

Speaking of fan conventions, don’t forget that THE OFFICE convention will be rolling into Scranton, PA from October 26-28th. Believe it or not, I’m not going to be able to go. I have a wedding that weekend. I still can’t believe it.

Are the MTV Video Awards even relevant? Does anyone watch videos anymore? The nominees for the 2007 MTV Video Awards were announced yesterday. Expect Justin Timberlake to continue his world domination by taking home a few more moonmen. For a complete list of nominees, click here.

On another MTV note, THE REAL WORLD: SYDNEY debuts tonight. I got the pilot episode a few weeks ago but couldn’t bring myself to watch it. Luckily our friends over at Buzz Sugar did and they have all the dirt on what I’m betting will be another dirty season.

I don’t have Showtime but I keep hearing great things about WEEDS so maybe it’s about time I add yet another cable station on to my insanely high cable bill. How can I not be watching a show that has a season ending where the lead character is “being held at gunpoint by some very jumpy homeboys and a gang of trigger-happy Armenians, with an empty safe where her weed was supposed to be.” Sounds like fun. Read more about the season premiere of WEEDS at MeeVee.

Kate Walsh of PRIVATE PRACTICE is getting married soon. This past weekend weekend she had a little bachelorette bash at the Venetian Hotel in Vegas with her girlfriends including former GREY’S ANATOMY co-star Sara Ramirez and Keisha Chambers, the wife of Grey’s star Justin Chambers. Just Jared has some pics from the girl’s night out.

I’m a little shocked you’ve never seen Weeds. I guess when I think about it I don’t remember you ever talking about HBO and Showtime. But you should definitely start watching Weeds. The seasons are short so they’re easy to catch up on. And it’s one of those rare shows I think had a better second season than first. Mary Louise Parker is amazing, but the supporting cast is one of the best on tv.

Yay! I am so excited about Weeds starting back. It is a really good show. I’m with Emily, the whole cast is amazing. You should definitely check it out. I don’t think you would be disappointed.

I think you’d really enjoy Weeds. Elizabeth Perkins is a force on that show. You can find eps online if you don’t want to pay the extra cable $.

You could always just purchase Weeds from iTunes…but Showtime does have Dexter 🙂

Yes! Dexter is amazing too. And the Tudors…I’m a big fan of Showtime’s original programming.
