Ed Helms “Take a Chance on Me”

October 12, 2007 by

The best moment of last night’s episode of THE OFFICE…Andy Bernard (Ed Helms) serenading Angela Martin (Angela Kinsey) with ABBA’s “Take a Chance on Me”. I can’t stop watching this scene. Perfect!!

Episodes like last night leave me in a state of wonder.

HOW IN THE WORLD DID THE OFFICE ROCK FOR TWO SEASONS WITHOUT THE BRILLIANCE OF ANDY BERNARD (AND ED HELMS)????

absolutely L*O*V*E andy bernard. the serenading, definitely, but also the scratching? “the office” really does awkward the best! awkward yet so sweet! and even ms. martin cracked a smile: aww… but poor dwight… :

I love how you can tell Andy is nervous right before he starts to sing.

As much as I have hit rewind on the DVR to watch the rooftop scene, I have watched the Andy serenade scene twice as much. I don’t think there has ever been a time when I have watched a scene more than I have watched a JAM scene. Go Andy!

I agree, that was GENIUS. He is such a great character with the consistency and depth of a real person.

I can’t stop watching this either! This scene was super adorable. I want Ed Helms to sing for me too. Angela and Jenna are very lucky to have had that chance.

Absolutely love this! I already had a huge crush on Ed Helms (#1 on my TV Boyfriend list! ;)), and this just added to that! He is so great and I’m really interested to see where this possible romance with Andy and Angela may go, especially in terms of how Dwight will react and if it means more serenading from Andy! It’ll be especially intriguing since Andy kind of views Dwight as his BFF in the office now! I wonder if he’ll ever pick up on the tension b/w Dwight and Angela. I can’t wait to see it.

    Andy!! Are you kidding me?!!

Andy is now greater than or equal to Season 2 Jim.

THANK YOU!! Just finishing up the podcast now and glad i have something new to listen to/watch!

    Go Andyla!!!

I’m not sure what amazes me more. The fact that the serenade was basically brilliant. or the fact that Andy has two friends just like him who are willing to sing randomly over speakerphone at the drop of a hat.

I never thought I would love a Dwight/Angela/Andy triangle so much- but I do! I can’t wait to see how it all plays out

I love Andy and have loved him from the beginning. That scene is why I do! haha! I did feel bad for Dwight though.

I loved this scene!!! I’m at work right now, and it’s driving me crazy because all I want to do is watch the video and I can’t!!! Instead, I’ve been singing the song to myself softly all day.

Oh, and I work in the accounting department which makes me love this even more. I don’t know why, maybe because I imagine myself to be like Angela? (Except not really at all).

This was absolutely adorable!!! His awkard dancing made this even more cute than it already was. I’ve always loved Andy’s character, but this made me super-love him (if I can do that). This is one of my absolute favorite scenes EVER! How can it be that I actually kind of want Andy and Angela to get together??

Just watched this season for the 500th time and noticed Angela’s smirk when she is walking away from Andy. How did I never notice this before. So telling. The same kind of smirk she gave after she slapped Dwight at the craps table.

I love Andy. He kills me. The only time I didn’t like him was right before his “anger management” class. I guess I was mad at him because I felt so bad for Dwight. Oh well, this Dwight/Angela/Andy triangle is very interesting.

I felt so bad for Dwight when he beat the computer but didn’t win the affection of Angela. I loved Pam’s little message back to him. Very sweet.

oh my goodness- Ed Helms is cutest thing ever!!!!

Here’s my question: When are we going to discover the identities of Andy’s backup singers? Season 4 DVD Commentary? That’s sooo farrrr awaaaay.

It seems to me that Steve Carell sings whenever he can in his movies and on this show and I know that as a member of Second City, you have to sing in performance a lot. He’s got a decent voice too, I feel. Maybe he was one of the vocalists? How great would that be!?

  20. Give Me My Remote on October 13th, 2007 12:14 am

SO funny you say that because I was listening closely to the backup singers to see if i could pick out Steve’s voice. They have a few singers over there. Brian Baumgartner sang a bit back in the day too. Did you know that Brian and Ed Helms were in the same high school chorus?

  21. Andrea on October 13th, 2007 12:20 am

Don’t know if anyone else noticed it, but for some reason the closed captioning on last night’s ep listed the names Dwight and Michael as the backup singers. Of course I knew that it was wrong, but when watching it the first time I thought “What – how can that be??” I’ve also noticed sometimes whenever Andy has a line they’ll show his name as “Ed” instead of his character’s name.

My friends get so annoyed at me for watching shows with the captions on, but I find for some shows, especially the Office, it is helpful to catch the little jokes I might miss.

Thanks to Andy Bernard, I have had this song stuck in my head since Thursday. As many times as I’ve watched this, I think it may be stuck in my head for a long time.

  23. Keri on October 13th, 2007 10:08 am

Loved the scene too! And since we are all sharing the Andy love…I loved it when Andy did the running man while blowing the bear horn!

  24. Purple Belt on October 13th, 2007 10:13 pm

I have loved Ed Helms from day 1, and thus have loved Andy Bernard.

“Hello? My name is Andrew Bernard and I was with a group called Dunder Mifflin!!”

Thanks for posting that video!!! I still don’t have the heart to delete any of the eps from my DVR. I heart them wayyy too much.
